Seymour was traded for salary cap reasons. He and Vince Wilfork were both coming up for a new contract and the Patriots couldn’t keep both. They chose the younger player with more upside.

Seymour will always be appreciated in N.E.

Instead he gets a guaranteed $9.5 million this season and potentially $11 -12+ million guaranteed next year if the Pats still want him. He’ll get a contract. He just won’t get a wreckless, ill-considered or inflated contract. He’ll get a contract that compensates him according to his value to the team and that also is structured to work fiscally for the Pats. The Krafts are excellent business people…. probably the best business people in the league. Being smart with business, contracts and money management is one of the reasons the Patriots are perpetually competing for the Suer Bowl year in and year out.
