bucthat says: Aug 22, 2012 7:45 PM

The reasons the patriots get a super bowl shot every year is simple…..they get the AFC east 6 games. That’s like the NFC west. It’s a cupcake so of course they get shots. Too bad they seem to struggle against them unlike o idk the rest of league that made it so two of those teams had top 10 picks

______________________________

Which AFC East team did they beat in the playoffs last year?

Also he knows the defenses are soft in the AFC East, and would never survive in the NFC East, or AFC North.
----------------------------------------------------------

First off, it doesn't matter which division the pats are in, they'd fair the same.

  - Secondly, idiot NE fans calling him "Chris Johnson like", are idiots, just as well as all the jealous Pats haters talking about belichickian arrogance and forwardness. You wish he was your teams coach. Period.

Great football move. desirable to most teams I'm sure. The Patriots needed kick return help, so we sought after a football player with an Olympic paced speed and return/running ability. Pats lucked out.. I'd take the steak house over burger king any day as well!!

Ask Richard Seymour about what a “family” the Patriots are. Or for that matter, ask Wes Welker.

Seymour was traded for salary cap reasons. He and Vince Wilfork were both coming up for a new contract and the Patriots couldn't keep both. They chose the younger player with more upside.

Demps couldn’t help but be reminded of his own family, where his father (belichick) would gather the family (team) and show his world famous home movies (other team’s practices).

The number of ignorant comments here is amazing.

Do folks really think Goodell would let an ineligible player into the NFL

Can people really not take 5 seconds to google and see that the contract he will never get is a done deal for 3 years and includes a bonus? Not bad for a UDFA.

Players respect Belichick and understand that only the best players make the team. They respect that as it helps them win - haters just can't accept that players want to play in New England.

The biggest factor for an NFL team is the quarterback. When I heard his choice, I thought he would have been better off going with a team with a younger franchise quarterback. What if Brady retires in a few years and the Patriots have a hard time getting a replacement as so many teams have? It's no fun to not be competitive.

Thanks guys for the astute comments on here about Belichick being quick to dump players w/o emotion. Family-based atmosphere? Pretty funny. Has he followed the game?

“And he will be a valued part of the family for so long as he is considered to be contributing to its win total.

Is any coach quicker than Belicheck to cut someone he thought wasn’t performing well enough?”

ok… so you want a coach that will continue to hold onto a player that no longer is cutting it? How many players that BB has let go of has gone on to HOF careers elsewhere, after sucking it up in NE?

****************************
Where did I say Belichek shouldn't do this? I think other coaches could learn from him.

It's just comical, IMO, for someone to call a strictly-business coach like Belichek someone who operates a "family" atmosphere. At least, "family" in the sense that I think of.

Ask Richard Seymour about what a “family” the Patriots are. Or for that matter, ask Wes Welker.

-------
Seymour was traded and at the time, rewarded with the richest defensive contract in the history of the league (thanks Al) and Welker was demanding too much for a new contract. Instead he gets a guaranteed $9.5 million this season and potentially $11 -12+ million guaranteed next year if the Pats still want him. Otherwise, he'll be trying to catch meatballs from that dynamic duo in Jets land. Hey, business is business.

Wait until he tries to get a real contract out of the “family”.

Really? His new "family" gave him a 3 year deal, a signing bonus and $200k guaranteed whether he makes the 53 man roster or not. How many other UDFA's get that kind of "real" contract?

"wait till he try's to get a contract out of the "family""

He'll get a contract. He just won't get a wreckless, ill-considered or inflated contract. He'll get a contract that compensates him according to his value to the team and that also is structured to work fiscally for the Pats. The Krafts are excellent business people.... probably the best business people in the league. Being smart with business, contracts and money management is one of the reasons the Patriots are perpetually competing for the Suer Bowl year in and year out.
