Vernon Gholston, who was one of the biggest draft busts in recent history as the sixth overall pick in 2008, is back in the NFL.
The Rams announced today that they have signed Gholston, a defensive end who has been out of the league since the Bears cut him at the end of the preseason last year.
After an impressive college career at Ohio State, Gholston looked like he had the talent to be a great NFL pass rusher. But he was a huge disappointment as a draft pick of the Jets, who finally released him after three seasons and zero sacks. Gholston caught on with the Bears after the lockout last year, but he didn’t last long.
Gholston will move into the roster spot that was opened up when the Rams traded cornerback Josh Gordy to the Colts.
