Adrian Peterson will be in uniform Friday night, but won’t play

Adrian Peterson AP

Vikings fans could have a Belichick-Sapp reaction upon arriving at the Metrodome on Friday night and spotting a familiar player wearing No. 28 in full uniform.

But don’t get too excited yet.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that running back Adrian Peterson will dress for the game against the Chargers, and that he’ll go through pregame warm-ups.  However, Peterson will not play.

Still, it’s the strongest indication yet that, when the Vikings face the Jaguars 16 days later, Peterson will be in uniform — and he will play.

Will the Vikings fine any Jaguar defenders who touch AD too?

Take your time AP. I got my FF draft coming up, and I want to buy you for around $35 (is that what AP meant by modern day slave?)

That’s great to see! Glad they are giving him as much time as possible. Vikes COULD be set up to be the turnaround team of the year. COULD.

Wtf is the point of getting suited to play not to play?

Get dressed, pregame warmups, and not play. That’s like putting on a condom to watch a porno

    Boring.

Who cares…..really? AllDay is going to be all–below average this year. The Queens blew it by not trading this guy. He’ll never, ever be the same.

    And 4ever85—–hey moron……if you’re going to get AP for $35…..then it’s not a draft…..it’s an auction……..Idiot.

    Favreblows,

Nice insight, turd. You’re going to be the moron when AP returns to top form.

Hey, Farveblows Peterson might be below average, Your average! Sure it it’s gonna take a few games to see the real AP but any player that has that kind of injury is going to need a few games to get back to normal. Everybody thought Gale Sayers would not be the same!

Below average backs are what packer fans are all too familiar with. Fortunate for us, Peterson is not one of those backs.

Well…..most REAL NFL fans care more about the status of the best runningback in the game, rather than another mouthy Cheeser fan’s opinion who comes on here and whines and insults others posts. Get lost Sconi!

I think more REAL NFL fans care more about the status of the best runningback in the league, than the opinion of another trolling Cheeser fan, who thinks he knows it all and insults other posters on here. Get a clue SCONI!!!

Eventually he has to face live tackling. That will be a scary day for Vikings fans

  13. rasalghoul says: Aug 24, 2012 8:41 AM

Pretty impressive that he is this close to playing, I hope he didn’t rush back too fast though.
As a Packer fan our games each year are much more exciting with AP than without.

Never quite understood the dress in pads but not play deal. If you watch the guy in practice, he’s still got the speed and his cuts have been sharp — the only remaining hurdle is what happens when he gets hit. Good thing Al Harris has retired to the “Cheap Knee Shot and Dred Growing Retirement Home” in Racine.
