Clements walked for an 8-year, $80 mil contract with the 49′ers, which was the largest contract for a defensive player at that time. How did that work out for SF??? Clements’ best days were clearly behind him, and wasn’t worth a tire from Brinks truck. Smart move by Buffalo there. Winfield, on the other hand, was one of my favorite D-backs and I hated to see him go.q

The irony is that it was Gronkowski who had the big back surgury concerns. So we go w/ Troup who can’t even get on the field b/c of his back. Still, when Troup is healthy, he does damage.

Troup has been about as useful as John McCargo, another 2nd round DT miss for the Bills.

In his defense, he was hired as GM just 3 months prior to the draft that year and fired the entire scouting staff pretty much immediately afterwards.

He hasn’t made enough good picks in the last three years to “fear noone in the AFC”. They are an average team, until they prove otherwise.

Of course, the next pick after Buffalo took Troup just had to be Gronkowski. And go figure that Gronkowski is a Buffalo native and now the best, if not Top 2, TE in the league. Good job management on drafting terrible and keeping the picks. I’m suprised we still have McKelvin since we get rid of every 1st round pick we take (i.e. Maybin, Evans, Whitner).
