A first round draft pick used on a QB? I think for those guys, being “validated” as an NFL QB means being an established starter who’s not getting cut or traded for two mid-late round draft picks.

And for the record, I’m pretty sure when Tebow said he was “validated”, he meant that he proved he was a capable #1 QB. Not a “niche” player or a guy who stands on the sidelines most of the time (like Young is now), after getting a clear shot at a starting job at least once.

That absolutely validates Tebow as a qb – a horrible one. The numbers don’t lie.

Maybe the future of the NFL offensively is less trying to protect the pocket passer, and more about putting pressure on offenses with an athletic/physical QB that can also beat you with his legs.

We are starting to see more of that type of QB in the league.

I do not hate on Tebow because of the fact he wears his religion on his sleeve. In fact, I commend him for it. He knew, at least he should have known, that he was going to face a lot of scrutiny for it. We live in a country that defames and derides Christians, and in the same breath protects and coddles other religions like Islam and Judaism and whatever else.

I do like watching Tebow play. He is extremely athletic and competitive. However, you can’t argue that he throws the ball well. His completion percentage last year was horrid, but he’s not doomed. He can succeed in this league. Skip Bayless might be right. Maybe a spread option is the best way for Tebow to thrive. I don’t really know. But if you expect Tebow to be an elite passing QB any time in the near future, it’s not happening. This two QB system might have worked elsewhere but not the Jets. Sanchez was extraordinary in the Redzone last year. If they take that away from Sanchez, there’s no point to even have Sanchez in NY. Plus, they took away his best redzone WR in Plaxico.
IMO, I think the coaching has plagued this team. While Rex is an incredible defensive mind, he’s never put full confidence or trust in Mark. This has caused Sanchez to continue to struggle. Not saying Sanchez could be an elite QB, but he and Rex and their OC’s have not meshed well. Also, this Jets O-line is embarrassing to say the least. You need to either put full faith into Sanchez, get O-linemen that can protect, and actually sign WRs that aren’t nearing Senior Citizen age, or you go with Tebow and go all out with smash mouth football.

Face it, people hate on Tim because he’s not bashful about sharing his religious views (which I wholeheartedly agree with, so go ahead and thumbs-down me too). Is he Peyton Manning or Drew Brees? No. Then again, neither is anyone else, except of course for Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.

Validated as a football player? Yes.

This is a passing league. He is not a good passer. Athletic QBs (Vick, VY, Tebow) win games. They don’t win Super Bowls.

Aaron Rodgers is actually somewhat athletic. His stats say he can tuck the ball and run a little bit, but that’s also because the Packers haven’t had a good RB in years.

J.P. Losman could have felt validated if the Bills had had the number one defense in the entire NFL.

A team should win because of their quarterback and not in spite of them. That is what truly validates a quarterback.

It validated Tim Tebow just like Vince Young’s rookie season with “Offensive Rookie of the Year” award, impressive 6-game win streak, and Pro Bowl appearance validated him. (One win short of the playoffs, after losing to Tom Brady in week 17).

I guess it depends what you mean by “validated”.

This is exactly the point. No one is claiming VY or TT is elite, but Vince Young is definitely an NFL QB. This will be his 7th season as a QB on an NFL roster. What do YOU think an NFL QB is?
