APWith the Bengals already completing their third preseason game, they’ve already started the process of cutting the roster to 75.
The Bengals have announced that five players have been placed on injured reserve, and four have been waived.
On IR are cornerback Brandon Ghee, cornerback Shaun Prater, receiver/cornerback Taveon Rodgers, safety Robert Sands, and guard Travelle Wharton. Gone are defensive end Luke Black, running back Aaron Brown, quarterback Tyler Hansen, and guard Matt Murphy.
Since the Bengals previously had only 85 on the roster, the moves leave the Bengals at 76 players. They must drop one more before Monday, August 27.
Next Friday at 9:00 p.m. ET, all teams must be at 53 players.

Brandon Ghee won’t make it in the NFL. Wharton’s career is probably done at this point too.
WOW~! Playing the Packers proved deadly to the careers of Head Coaches Chilly and Wade Phillips.
Now it’s players dropping like flies.
NFL — be scared — be very scared — do not ask for whom the bell tolls — it tolls FOR YOU!
Cut down day is actually one of my favorite days on the NFL calender. Yea, it sucks that players will lose their jobs, but at the same time, the regular season is just around the corner.
Can’t wait for Sept. 5th, then Sept. 9th!

You have to know Mike Brown was salivating at cutting some pay.
I told y’all not to sign Wharton. He had one really good year here in Carolina (’08), but that’s about it. The fact that he has been replaced by a rookie from a Division II school, and everyone believes that the line is better for it, should tell you something.
hope bengals can get some needed pickups when other teams start to cut down their rosters
