Prince Amukamara carted off against the Bears

The Giants lost cornerback Terrell Thomas for an indefinite period when he suffered a “stretched” and “aggravated” right ACL injury in late July. They’ve turned to 2011 first-round pick Prince Amukamara to replace Thomas.

The G-Men got bad news in Friday night’s preseason game against the Bears when Amukamara suffered a first-quarter ankle injury and had to be carted off the field. The injury appeared to be to Amukamara’s right ankle. The Giants immediately took him to the X-ray room.

Chicago’s offense subsequently attacked Amukamara’s side of the field, as quarterback Jay Cutler connected with wide receiver Brandon Marshall on a touchdown pass in replacement cornerback Bruce Johnson’s coverage.

Amukamara figures to undergo further tests to determine the extent of the injury in the coming hours and days. But the reigning Super Bowl champs can’t afford to lose him for an extended period of time.

Time to see if they can coax Elvis “Toast” Patterson out of retirement.

If it’s serious, I guess he will be getting another cold bath since he will be rookie again next year?

In all seriousness, hope he’s ok.

  13. nygmenruleny says: Aug 24, 2012 9:04 PM

When do we start calling him injury prone??

It wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Looks like a strain, as he pushed off that foot to make the tackle.

JP is on the sidelines in sunglasses to that clown who is still making jokes a WEEK later.

As Prince went down, it looked like his right foot planted/jammed and the ankle/foot was in an unnatural position.
I can’t help laughing at the comments from those of you claiming he’s soft. Unless YOU are a NFL player, your opinion means less than NOTHING. So, keep reliving your glory days as a high school football star and work on your fantasy football draft chart.

Be excited to see how fast espn and Sirius make excuses for them if it last substantial time.

  20. baddegg says: Aug 24, 2012 9:17 PM

Don’t worry, JPP will ice that ankle down for you…

But when they wheeled him off the field, he had swag.

In sports there are guys who just can’t avoid getting hurt all the time. Just luck of the draw. Some guys avoid injuries for their entire career, some guys whole careers are injury after injury. There’s just no way of knowing beforehand. Doesn’t necessarily mean a guy is “soft”, perhaps he’s just unlucky. Fans like to toss around phrases like “poorly-conditioned” (as if they’re “conditioning” experts LOL) to make themselves appear intelligent, but they almost never have any idea of what they’re talking about.

    Just a sprain.

  25. cmdrsmooth says: Aug 24, 2012 10:25 PM

    Sorry JPP? I didn’t mean to get……..(dumped)

Nice to know your team has your back.

I think it’s funny that during last year’s draft, many of my fellow 49er fans were mad that we passed up Prince to take Aldon Smith.
