Report: Prince Amukamara has high ankle sprain

Prince Amukamara AP

Giants coach Tom Coughlin told the CBS broadcast crew that cornerback Prince Amukamara suffered an “ankle sprain” in Friday night’s preseason game against the Bears.

CBS later reported, however, that Amukamara has the dreaded high ankle sprain. It’s an injury that could shelve him for a month or longer. The ailment is to Amukamara’s right leg. X-rays were negative, but they only tested for a fracture.

Amukamara was carted off the field in the first quarter, and did not return. He was replaced by Bruce Johnson.

With usual first-teamer Terrell Thomas (knee) out indefinitely, the Giants are running low on cornerbacks for the second consecutive preseason.

In fairness, they wound up doing okay after facing the same predicament last year.

He hurt his ankle when JPP through him in the ice. Giants won’t admit that.

He probably rolled it when he pushed off to make the tackle, because it did roll slightly.

Will be an interesting game come Sept. 5th vs the Cowboys….

Giants secondary hurting, but the Cowboys O-Line and receivers hurting…

Throw in the mix that Dallas’ secondary finally looks good…

    Interesting match-up

“Injured…riggght…scared of Garcon/Moss and Co. more like it.”

Garcon doesn’t have Peyton throwing to him anymore…

    And Moss isn’t all that

Most of the Redskins fans on this site are gonna be eating a lot of crow at the end of this season

  15. voiceofreasonsays says: Aug 24, 2012 11:55 PM

Correct. He doesn’t have Peyton throwing to him anymore. He has someone BETTER in RGIII as tha man. The Redskins are gonna DUST NY, again. Sweep!

Garcon/Moss is supposed to be a scary combo? You know your team sucks when you hang your hopes on that duo. Sad.

  20. bkostela says: Aug 25, 2012 9:50 AM

that sucks for prince. second year in a row he’ll be watching from the sidelines when the season starts. hopefully he can get healthy and turn into a solid corner.

redskins fans on this site are a joke. the last time the giants drafted high, they picked eli manning and never looked back. yet your team drafts high every year and you have nothing to show for it. good luck with MVII

High ankle sprain is much better than what i was thinking, i thought it might’ve been a ruptured achilles, those high ankle sprains can be a burden all year lon though.
