The Bears did most of the work to get to the 75-man roster limit, placing safety Brandon Hardin on IR, wide receiver Johnny Knox on PUP and releasing veteran defensive tackle John McCargo and waived eight other players.

The Bears also waived linebacker K.C. Asiodu, quarterback Matt Blanchard, safety Trevor Coston, receivers Terriun Crump and Chris Summers; and defensive end Derek Walker; and waived/injured linebacker Adrien Cole and guard Nick Pieschel.

Hardin suffered a neck injury making a tackle against the Redskins, but never lost consciousness or feeling in his extremities, and the third-round pick is expected to make a full recovery.

Knox will miss the first six weeks of the season, after suffering a back injury last December.

The moves take the Bears roster to 77, meaning two more will have to be cut by tomorrow afternoon.

UPDATE 5:18 p.m. ET: The Bears also have waived defensive end Thaddeus Gibson, dropping the roster to 76.
