APNo matter whose report you believe, the news was not good for the Steelers.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Steelers right guard David DeCastro tore his MCL, dislocated his kneecap and damaged his patella tendon, but that his ACL was intact.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that DeCastro tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee, according to a source.
It will at least be a long break for their first-rounder.
The Steelers weren’t expecting anything different, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had already blamed the FieldTurf in Buffalo for the problem.
Losing their right guard throws another wrinkle into an offensive line that was already in flux, likely plugging Ramon Foster back into the starting lineup.
UPDATE: 2:42 p.m. ET: Rapoport has updated his report, saying DeCastro’s ACL is not torn.

To all steeler fans who celebrated when Suggs got hurt, you deserve this.
I hate this I wanted to see how DeCatro and Zietler was going to compare in their rookie season.
This kids knee is going to be messed up for life. This is going to be a yearly story sometime through the season with him sad to say.
Foster starting? Oh boy is this team in trouble.
We’ll be fine.
Is this the excuse steeler fans will use when they get beat down by the ravens again?
I’m taking a year off from being a Steelers fan. not by choice. I tore my ACL, MCL and PCL kicking my dog in frustration.
Let that be the end of offensive lineman injuries this season.
You’ll be fine???
Denial !!
Big blow.
Just saw accross the screen that he tore it all and is out for the season. Don’t know what to beleive but hope he recovers and has a great career.
Anyone who would say someone deserves something, just because you THINK they cheered someone when they got injured is no different. Pot meet kettle.
Not good news for DeCastro; even worse news for the organization.
The “O-Line” has been in such disrepair for so long, we wouldn’t know what to do if we had some decent protection up front.
Now if only Ben’s right rotator cuff tears all will be well with the world.
Hopefully they amputate.
Run away Ben. Run for your life. The Ravens are coming.
Denial? This article is made up of 90% Ravens fans celebrating and taking shots at a team because a player got hurt. Stop trying to talk yourselves into thinking that the Ravens had a better offseason than Pitt. And yes, we’ll be fine. We went 12-4 without him last year and well be right back in the playoff hunt again this year.
Steelers fans aren’t even taking time to comment on this, why are Ravens fans?
Karma, gotta love it.
wow it never fails to amaze me. EVERY single Steelers post Ravenator has a comment for. Hey DeCastro’s injury is bad but it could be worse… we could of lost the reigning defensive player of the year for the year who is now 30 and won’t have the same speed at 31. at worst DeCastro is out the year and next year we will have him back beasting on the Ravens minus Lewis and Reed. Plus our next drafts 1st round pick. so yuck it up ravens fans. DeCastro get well soon. Good luck Ravens fans with that soft ass secondary who has been owned on 3 weeks in a row twice by vets once by a rookie.
Ravens lost their best player, Steelers lost a rookie. We both think we’ll be fine, so who’s in denial?

Hopefully they amputate.

Maybe they can get the same doctor who took your brain out.
MCL tear is a knee sprain. Patella dislocation keeps him out for 6 to 8 weeks. No IR since ACL is intact.
Kid got lucky.
…remembering all the Steeler fans mocking the Bengals for trading down and going with Zeitler instead of jumping on DeCastro….
Can all sensible fans agree that the rule should be never to wish or relish injury on any player, for any reason? Seriously, no one wanted Suggs injured any more than DeCastro, other than those truly useless to understand the concept of sport.
While I can’t stand the Steelers, I agree that no one should be happy about another’s injury. It is classless.
If he dislocated the patella, he might have to have MPFL reconstructive surgery on the ligament connected to the patella. Typically though there is no surgery for a dislocation. I wonder though if they would have to because of stresses on the knee in the NFL. Trust me, the injury sucks.
That Big Dumb Gilbert had hurt his own rookies linemen (Adams , DeCastro) this preseason. This guy is a mess.
