Getty ImagesThe folks at FOX have developed a tradition of providing game picks via a comedian. This year, they’re providing a new comedian to provide the game picks.
Frank Caliendo announced earlier this month that he has left FOX after nine years. During halftime of Sunday’s 49ers-Broncos game, FOX announced that Rob Riggle will take Caliendo’s place.
Riggle, 42, is a veteran of shows like Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show. He has appeared in numerous films, and he hosted the ESPY Awards in July.
He also is an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Riggle debuts on September 9.
Maybe for his first segment he’ll impersonate Caliendo impersonating John Madden.

Rob Riggle is a genuinely funny guy. Also, he’s a big Chiefs fan, which is a plus to me.
It’s really about time they moved away from Frank. I don’t see the need for a comedian at all though.

Outstanding work for the Marine. The Fox pregame show is a bit much. That robot business is totally nonsensical. In comparison to that giant cluster f on CBS, however, it’s TV gold. When the only intelligible, nearly intelligent commentary comes from Boomer Esiason, your show sucks.
Anything’s an improvement over Caliendo. I’ve never seen such a good impressionist with such unfunny material. Sunday school teachers are edgier (and funnier).

While Riggle is as lame as Tyler Perry, Fox’s pregame show is still better than CBS, with their grandparent coverage, and ESPN, with their wannabe comedians who try to hard.
Riggle was uncomfortably awful in the Espy’s, what makes Fox think the outcome will be different here?
Bring back Jimmy Kimmel to do it

Is it really necessary to have a comedian to do predictions each week?
I can remember when Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder used to do that. Yeah, I’m that old.
