Getty ImagesThe Dolphins dodged a bullet with left tackle Jake Long’s knee injury.
Although there were concerns in Miami today when Long was carted off the practice field, Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports that there was no damage and only a “tweak” to Long’s right knee.
An injury to Long would have been disastrous for the Dolphins, who are counting on Long to protect rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill. They’d prefer not to have another rookie, Jonathan Martin, protecting Tannehill, but that’s what they’d have to do if Long went down.
It’s not clear yet whether Long will travel with the Dolphins to Dallas for the last game of the preseason this week, but he will be good to go for the regular season opener.

Uhm, he’s already supposed to be protecting tannehill on the right side…
Thankfully he’s ok.
By the way, wouldn’t “Jake Long” be a great porn name?
Dolphins are not worried because they know Jake Long is a shadow of himself and is on the way out anyway.
Dolphins will win 3 games this year at best.
Long hasn’t exactly been doing his job well by leading his unit to bottom of the league performance in pass protect and run blocking last year, and it appears this year too….
