Everyone knows that cutting Kasay was a bad mistake. At least now they have made the move to correct that error. I feel certain that we will pick up a veteran who has been cut and can do both jobs. Otherwise, they would have kept Mare for kickoffs and had 2 kickers. Rivera wants 1 man for both jobs.

It was a battle between Mare and Medlock. Mare didn’t necessarily lose the battle as much as Medlock beat him. Medlock is our kicker, and we cut a ton of payroll when we cut Mare. Dude was making 3-4 mil a year to be a kicker, was a joke of a signing to begin with.

We’re keeping Brad Nortman from Wisconsin to punt. If we don’t keep Justin Medlock, we would be well-served to re-sign Kasay. I suspect we’re going to keep Medlock. He looked fine in preseason.

Mare was never “great” in Seattle and he was arguably worse in Carolina. Billy Cundiff could be a better option, though as a Ravens fan, that’s definitely debatable..just glad the Ravens now have a kicker with a howitzer for a leg and the laser-guided accuracy to go with it.
