Steelers send 15 packing to get to 75

Myron Rolle AP

The Steelers have beaten the deadline by more than six hours, parting ways with 15 players to comply with the mandatory reduction from 90 to 75.

The Steelers have released linebacker Ryan Baker, defensive tackle Mike Blanc, wide receiver Paul Cox, cornerback Andre Freeman, kicker Daniel Hrapmann, offensive lineman Kyle Jolly, long snapper Matt Katula, tight end Jamie McCoy, cornerback Walter McFadden, tight end Justin Peelle, safety Myron Rolle, wide receiver Juamorris Stewart, defensive tackle Kade Weston, and wide receiver Jimmy Young.

The Steelers also waived linebacker Mortty Ivy with the “injured” designation.  If he clears waivers, he’ll revert to injured reserve.

The biggest name on the list is Myron Rolle (pictured), a former Rhodes Scholar and a sixth-round pick in 2010.

Easy to part with players when this front office has no idea how to scout undrafted free agents

Mr. Rolle gave up his NFL career to pursue his dream of being a Rhodes Scholar. I was hoping he’d be able to have the best of both worlds and be an NFL player AFTER the time off the college football field. Guess its just like other things in life, you dont practice it, you lose it. He’s still young enough that another team may give him an opportunity though. I hope he gets it.

Might have been a mistake to release the kicker Hrapmann. He looked really good going 5 for 5 in the preseason with a very strong leg.

They wouldnt make the playoffs even if they were allowed to keep everyone.

I was really hoping Rolle would stick. I hope this kid gets a shot somewhere.

I knew the Rolle stuck to me reading this. I remember this kids story, I pray he gets a shot somewhere.

Other than the kicker Hrapmann, there are no surprises here. Now that he easy cuts have been made, the real work begins.

On a story about the Ravens, one self-proclaimed long time Ravens fan said that ravanator was an embarassment to other Ravens fans. Who am I to disagree with that statement?

Time to change your tampon Ravenator…..oh yeah and James Harrison was undrafted, and you guys cut him for a 3rd string TE. Thank Ozzie for us.

    Sincerely,

    Steelers Nation

I normally wouldn’t even acknowledge your stupidity, but the rabies are obviously affecting your thinking, so I’ll help you out by setting the record straight.
See James Harrison, Willie Parker, Dan Kreider, Ramon Foster, and Doug Legursky, to name just a few, to judge how this front office scouts undrafted free agents.

Unfortunately shuisam is are kicker for another year…i’d rather see Hrappman in there

  13. jimbobobjr says: Aug 27, 2012 10:35 AM

Sorry, I forgot about Steve McLendon. The Steelers front office is so good at scouting undrafted free agents it’s hard to remember them all.

  14. ravenator says: Aug 27, 2012 10:51 AM

How about scouting another undrafted offensive lineman because your line is absolutely atrocious. Even Suggs’ backups are lickin their chops.

  15. tellmeyouhaveaclue says: Aug 27, 2012 11:10 AM

What was that ravenator? You say Suggs is licking his backups what?

Myron “Suitcase” Rolle. Making his farewell tour of NFL practice squads. I think I was the only one to forecast this future back in the day when everyone was ready to elect him to the White House.

It’s nice to see Ravens fans talk a little trash after they swept us last season. Add that to seeing the Ravens give their coach a Gatorade bath after beating us (no, not winning the Super Bowl nor even the AFC, but US).

Memo to Ravens fans everywhere: focus on winning not only the AFC North, but the AFC as a whole and stop worrying about us.

Seeing all of that is further proof that they are and will always be our little brothers.

  18. Bubby Brister says: Aug 27, 2012 11:46 AM

Yeah, ravenator, because a bad offensive line has certainly stopped the Steelers from going to the Super Bowl before. It’s still the best it’s been in a few years and the Ravens front 7 is in pretty bad shape itself, so it’s kind of irrelevant anyway. Haloti Ngata can’t do everything. Especially with Colon in the middle to help Pouncey out now.

  19. johnnybgood19 says: Aug 27, 2012 11:59 AM

I have always hated this part of the game. Guys who have worked their hearts out to get a shot to play the game getting cut, has always cuts me. But I had hoped the STEELERS would have held on to Myron Rolle… just if for no other reason than to say we were the smartest team in the league…..

I wish him well,,,, who am I kidding this guy is on the fast track to a great life… hell, now that he won’t be playing football maybe he’ll become mayor of Atlanta or something on his way to becoming President….

  20. csilojohnson says: Aug 27, 2012 12:28 PM

Wish they would’ve kept Hrapman. Not a fan of Suisham. Ravenator you are an idiot. If the steelers front office does things poorly, that say a lot about the ravens considering thier whole organization has been ran by copying the Rooney model.

“I think I was the only one to forecast this future back in the day when everyone was ready to elect him to the White House.”

A lot of people had him pegged as a journeyman, if he didn’t give up after one year to go right back into his education. You really went out on a limb there, didn’t you, skippy?

  22. ravenator says: Aug 27, 2012 1:57 PM

The pittsburgh oline will be like a ripped up, weathered and eroding quilt blanket.

    I can’t wait.

Haters like you have been saying that for since 2005. You’ve had two good years vs. the Steelers since then. History isn’t your strong point, is it, Junior?

This ravenator degenerate is a prime example for ratbird trolls. They always seem to be worried about what we do, while their sorry excuse of a team tries so hard to copy everything we do. Most of their so called fans have an IQ of a neanderthal, have next to no football knowledge and talk out of their rear ends (i.e. ravenator). This bozo is living proof how stupidity, ignorance and hatred effects people’s brain….smh
