Giants’ Marcus Thomas lobbies to get his Madden picture changed

marcusthomas

For some football players, one of the thrills of playing in the NFL is getting to see themselves in the Madden video game. But Giants defensive tackle Marcus Thomas isn’t happy about the way he looks in the game.

Thomas, who is heading into his sixth year in the NFL, got upset when he started playing this year’s Madden game and saw that it mixed him up with the Marcus Thomas who played running back for three games with the Lions in 2008.

Thomas went on Twitter to vent his frustrations, saying he hates the makers of the Madden game for failing to use his correct picture.

At one point Thomas angrily asked “Mr. Madden” to change his picture in the game, as if John Madden himself is the one who personally handles how every picture of every player will look in the game that bears the Madden name. But while Madden isn’t personally involved in the operations of the game, someone who is — an EA Sports producer — saw Thomas’s tweets and promised that his picture would be fixed in the next update.

That appeared to placate Thomas.

I been in the nfl going on 6years and y’all still hav another mans face for my pic on madden i hate y’all hate is very strong but I do

That’s because it’s been a lackluster 6 years, and for the most part, you’re a scrub.

You mean to tell me that John Madden doesn’t handle all the details of his namesake video game?
You’ve completely ruined my week. Thanks.

maybe if he actually made a difference on the field, they’d get the pic right…

He HATES John Madden for this? I’m afraid to hear what he thinks of any ex girlfriend or wife.

    Good point…the man is right!

Madden usually mixes up faces of players. This is nothing new unfortunately.

With that said, this has to be the WORST Madden ever created! For those of you who have yet to purchase it, don’t. They completely eliminated franchise mode AND fantasy draft.

Waste of 65 bucks if you liked any of those features.

They’d better drop this guys ‘Intelligence’ rating a few points in the next update as well.

I read Jeremiah Johnson had the same complaint about them using a picture of Robert Redford wearing a fur cap.

Is Marcus Thomas an 8 year old boy?

He sure doesn’t seem much smarter or mature than one.

U guys are REALLY gunna criticize this guy for not being a pro bowler? Hes a 6pro year vet in professional football for gods sake. Not everyone can b the best in the world

blacknole, The franchise is in connected career mode. you can either be a player or a coach (franchise) it hasnt been eliminated, its still there.

You’re a 76 on the game. Play better.

    Stryfe19,

No, it is gone. They replaced it with the connected corners BS that is nothing like franchise mode. Don’t even try to suggest this is an improvement. So many true Madden gamers are irate about this!

Besides, you can’t edit players or their equipment, can’t start a fantasy draft, can’t control multiple teams, or can’t use your own custom roster even in the offline career mode. That’s unacceptable.

EA ruined a perfectly good game this year by taking those features out for no good reason!

Dont worry they will bring it back next year and call it a new feature, vintage EA, remove something one year bring it back the next and call it new.

    Long live NFL 2K5 brother!!

Most linemen were usually the wrong race only a short time ago.

Can we please get an alternative NFL game to Madden? When is this BS contract up between EA Sports an the NFL? Can you imagine how good the NFL games would be right now if there was competition? Unreal. Also, everyone I know who plays Madden, at some point, will play franchise with a fantasy draft.

  18. seanpbeck says: Aug 29, 2012 1:20 PM

This year’s Madden is extremely lackluster and Blacknoleo8 is right: the new “Career” mode is TERRIBLE. In addition to everything he said, the player management is destroyed as well. You have to back out to a separate menu item to make a trade and then you can’t scroll team-to-team to see who needs an upgrade at a given position – you have to go know exactly what trade you want to make with which team. So much wasted time and unnecessary filler – does anyone NOT simulate the practice sessions? The current Career mode is a lot more like their failed, boring “Head Coach” franchise from a few years ago than their successful for a decade Franchise Mode.

Also, when there’s no competition, the attention to detail goes out the window. I was pleasantly surprised to see a brilliantly rendered Fawcett Stadium in the game til I saw the graphic that says “Fawcett Stadium – Columbus Ohio.” Seriously EA? Are you all too lazy to Google what city a stadium is in?

Way to focus on the important details a week before the season starts. Has anybody besides Giants fans ever even heard of this guy? He doesn’t even appear on their depth chart.
