Kenny Britt will be suspended one game

The Titans activated Kenny Britt from the PUP list earlier this week, now they’re just waiting for word about whether he’ll go on the suspended list.

They’re about to get their answer. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reported and PFT has confirmed that the NFL will suspend Britt for one game for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. According to Florio, the suspension is the result of multiple incidents with police, with Britt’s July DUI arrest triggering the discipline. It had been widely reported that Britt had eight brushes with the law in the last three years, but Florio says that the league identified 10 incidents in the letter informing Britt of the suspension.

Britt has three days to appeal, a decision that Florio is reporting he hasn’t made yet. Britt’s inclination is to accept the suspension because it’s just for one game.   Britt isn’t likely to be 100 percent as a result of his knee injury in Week One, which would let him serve the suspension before he was ready to be a big contributor on the field.

The Titans were hoping to hear Britt’s fate before making cuts on Friday. While Roger Goodell reserves the right to dispense further punishment once Britt’s July DUI case runs its course,  the Titans can prepare to move on with Britt come Week Two of the regular season.

UPDATE 7:10 p.m. ET:  PFT has learned that Britt will not appeal the suspension.

Am I the only one that can’t anticipate any rhyme or reason to the suspensions. I was expecting much more than 1 game for his actions.

    Lucky!

So Mikel Leshoure gets suspended two games for smoking weed.

Britt gets 1 game for 10 incidents, including a DUI.

    Makes no sense at all.

Arrested 8 times in the last 3 years and he gets just a game….talk about slap on the wrist

    exciting player = light suspension

  9. Broncofanatic7 says: Aug 30, 2012 6:02 PM

wow arrested 8 times in 3 years…. grow up, Britt.

  10. stairwayto7 says: Aug 30, 2012 6:03 PM

Goodell need to grow some testicles! 8 arrest=1 game suspension? Outragous! If he played for Steelers it would have been a year long suspension!

  11. brownsfn says: Aug 30, 2012 6:05 PM

    How absolutely ridiculous…

  12. fuddpucker says: Aug 30, 2012 6:07 PM

These “elite” players always, always get the breaks.

This should have easily been a 4 game suspension.

  13. dbarnes79 says: Aug 30, 2012 6:07 PM

So lucky. Got off easy so far. Thought it would be at least 4 games.

Let me get this right, this guy has been arrested 8 times in the last 3 yeasr and he gets a 1 game suspension.

Saints players whoi did NOTHING wrong on the football field get suspended for 16 games and 4 games:

During the last 3 years combined 2009-2011 season:

Jonathan Vilma: 2 “unnecessary roughness” type penalties called against him (1 roughing the passer, 1 personal foul)

Will Smith: 1 Roughing the Passer, 0 personal fouls

    Gotta love the NFL…….

    Disgusting
Said it before and I’ll say it again.

Money is better spent on the NHL or MLB than the NFL.

    Coaches are a joke
    League is a joke
    Players are a joke
NCAA football is a filthy joke right along with the rest.

Football needs to be taken down a few hundred pegs.

” Florio reports that there were a total of 10 incidents involved in the league’s decision”
    1 game…really, 1 game?

  17. essentialsausage says: Aug 30, 2012 6:20 PM

Mikel Leshoure gets busted for pot a couple times (just possession, mind you) and gets a 2-game suspension, yet this guy drives drunk, endangering the lives of himself and everyone else on the road, and he gets a 1-game suspension?!

Because Alcohol based business are huge sponsors of the NFL. The NFL won’t make a big deal out of DUI’s because they want you to drink their over priced swill when you go to a game, just like their players do.

  19. japmen says: Aug 30, 2012 6:26 PM

Wow! Goodell has the balls to suspend other players for much less and this guy gets 1 game! ONE GAME! I’m sure he will learn how to act now. I promise I’ll be good by #12 at least Mr commissioner!

  20. JSpicoli says: Aug 30, 2012 6:33 PM

If this guys gets one game, there is no way Rolando McClain or DHB miss one snap.

    TY

  21. djspman says: Aug 30, 2012 6:46 PM

one game that’s it that’s cake.

“While Roger Goodell reserves the right to dispense further punishment once Britt’s July DUI case runs its course,”

Learn to read guys. Once the legal process has run it’s course, he will likely be suspended again. This punishment encompasses everything but the DUI.

  23. indyeagle says: Aug 30, 2012 6:49 PM

‎8 run-ins with the police and only a 1 game suspension? So, I guess a bounty on an opposing player is equal to 128 run-ins with the police in Goodells world, huh?

  24. bad80d says: Aug 30, 2012 6:53 PM

Yes! Stuff that happens on your own time you should not be punished at your job for good call

  25. 2ndaryinsanity says: Aug 30, 2012 6:56 PM

8-10 incidents = 1 game suspension???? That will teach him a lesson! LOL!

    Britt 8 arrests= 1 game

    Big Ben no arrests/no charges= 4 games

    ??????????????????????????

  28. nikkodawg says: Aug 30, 2012 7:07 PM

Big Ben gets 6 games (reduced to 4) for one police investigation and one civil lawsuit where there was no arrest or charges.

And this clown gets 1 game for 8 arrests including DUI, where depending on his level on intoxication, people’s lives were at risk. This is clearly a pattern of bad behavior and I thought that was the basis for Ben’s suspension.

WTF??? By the way, I’m a Bears fan and don’t like Ben or the Steelers any more than I like Britt or the Titans.

  29. lippy4246 says: Aug 30, 2012 7:46 PM

Reading is fundemental…this isn’t over. He will be punished again once the DUI case is finished

I agree the league has no guidelines when it comes to suspensions.I think goodell just picks numbers out of a hat or rolls the dice and whatever comes up is the length.

  32. cliffordc05 says: Aug 30, 2012 9:07 PM

Please don’t point to Big Ben getting suspended four games for raping a drunk college girl as being unreasonably harsh. The civil suit was settled out of court and if you think he didn’t pay through the nose then you are nuts.
