Superdome will be ready to go for Week One for Redskins-Saints

Hurricane Isaac Hits New Orleans, Gulf Coast

With Hurricane Isaac inflicting only superficial damage to signs, banners, and landscaping, there’s nothing to prevent the Saints from hosting the Redskins on September 9.

In fact, the Superdome will host as scheduled the Saturday night game between Tulane and Rutgers, according to the Associated Press.

“We have concluded it is not only appropriate to move ahead with this event but essential to show the nation the resolve and resiliency of our community when faced with enormous adversity,” Tulane athletic director Rick Dickson said Thursday, via the AP.

The Green Wave will take the field for the first time under new head coach Curtis Johnson, a New Orleans native who spent the past six years as the Saints’ receivers coach.

Seven years ago, Hurricane Katrina ravaged the region, preventing the Saints from playing any games in the Superdome for the entire season.
