The NFL’s shortest player has been huge this preseason.
Trindon Holliday, the 5-foot-5 return man for the Texans, ran back a punt 76 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter of tonight’s preseason game against the Vikings, giving him his third touchdown return of the preseason.
Holliday’s numbers this preseason are ridiculous. Through the third quarter of the fourth preseason game, Holliday has returned nine kickoffs for 359 yards (a 39.9-yard average) and one touchdown, and has returned 10 punts for 211 yards (a 21.1-yard average) and two touchdowns.
Injuries have limited Holliday to just one regular-season appearance in two seasons since the Texans took him in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL draft, but Holliday has phenomenal speed: In addition to playing football at LSU, Holliday was a track star who won the SEC 100-meter title. A healthy Holliday is going to be a big-time player for the Texans’ special teams.
