Panthers release Darius Butler, former Pats second-rounder

The Panthers are thinning out the ranks at cornerback, and have released Darius Butler, a league source tells PFT.

Butler, a former second-round pick of the Patriots, came to the Panthers last season on a waiver claim, but couldn’t win a starting job on a team with one starting-caliber corner.

The Panthers have also released cornerback R.J. Stanford, according to his agent.

At the moment, they have starters Chris Gamble and Captain Munnerlyn, along with Josh Norman and Josh Thomas. They’re likely to keep extra safeties to shore up a miserable special teams unit.

Wait.. I didn’t think Belicheck ever missed on a draft choice… every year we hear over and over about how they do it right…. they are the “premier” franchise… how could this be?

Who says BB has never missed on a draft choice? No one, that’s who.

    Your strawman is showing.

Because he gets it right more often than that.

in the 2009 draft there were two players that McCloughan wanted with the 43rd pick(round 2). Both were taken and one of them was Darius Butler. After him and Byrd were taken the pick was traded to Carolina for the first rounder in 2010 that became Mike Iupati.

    Thank you BB

Why are some people so ignorant to put it all on Belichick.

You act like he’s the only one who takes part in the Patriots draft.

Nobody is perfect, including Belichick. But unlike many others, he’s quick to realize he’s made a mistake and move on from it. The only thing worse than using a second round pick on a guy who can’t play is keeping a second round pick who can’t play.

Considering all the pick the Belicheats had assembled over the past few years they would have been a sure lock to win the SB every year. So clearly they have had their share of busts.

Belichek’s talent is stealing opponents plays.
