I love the posts the fudge packer fans make on a Vikings thread. I remember not to long ago when the whole fanbase thought Ted Thompson was worthless and now he is the greatest GM in the league. Point is lets give Rick at least this year before we start calling for his head!

This is a depth/development trade for a guy that will likely be 2nd/3rd string. Basically they Vikings waived Chris Carr, an aging CB who got burned consistently in pre-season, for a young CB who got burned consistently but has the physical ability and, perhaps, can still develop and learn the position.

He adds depth which is something the Vikings lack in the secondary. As long as we didn’t give up valuable picks, this is a pretty good move.

I would wait to judge. I do remember some buzz about this guy before and after the draft. He is playing a completely different def than in az. Wher a tall fast corner with good tackling skills who can jump out of the gym has a chance to be something. It probably wasn’t a stretch to think he wouldn’t make it to us on waivers.

He’s a pretty good player. He is great coming in off the bench and on special teams. He can cover but not tackle too well tho he got much better. He’s not like this article portrays him. He’s very young and could still be good.

AZ was pretty deep. Jefferson ended the year with 66 tackles, 12 passes defended and one INT. Not bad for a guy that played in sub packages. (1st round AZ pick Patrick Peterson had 64 tackles, 13 passes defended and 2 INT’s just to give perspective)
According to Profootball Focus he finished ahead of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie PHI, Sam Shields of GB, Captain Munnerlyn CAR, Nnamdi Asomugha PHI, Tracy Porter NO, AND Patrick Peterson AZ.
Plus he returns kicks well.
He’s 6’1 and 193…tall and fast, has a 44 1/2″ vertical and plays the run better than the pass, which fits the Vikings defensive scheme well. Vikings now have 6 DB’s over 6′ with speed to match up better than division foes. This was a solid move. My guess is the Vikings will give a 6th or 7th round pick depending on the amount he plays.

1. He won’t start like he did when he was ‘burned relentlessly’.
2. Defensive coordinator Alan Williams was a DB coach at Indy, which will only help this guy and all the young DBs on the team.
3. He has to be better at corner than Marcus Sherels

I don’t know about “burned relentlessly”…he was one of the top CB’s for a few weeks PFF. He had a tough game in Baltimore…prior to that he was solid.
