Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks recently said that he was anticipating playing with some pain in Wednesday’s game against the Cowboys.
On Sunday, he decided against practicing with it. Nicks didn’t practice with the rest of the Giants on Sunday in what looks like a precautionary measure designed to assure Nicks is good to go against the Cowboyw. While coach Tom Coughlin said that Nicks was “sore,” he also said he expected him to practice Monday and gave no indication that Nicks’ status for the opener was in doubt.
Nicks has no doubts either.
“I’m playing,” Nicks said, via Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. “You don’t have to ask me the question. I’m playing.”
It was another good day health-wise for the Giants as tackle Will Beatty and linebacker Michael Boley both continued to feel no pain after long layoffs. They also got defensive tackle Marvin Austin back on the field in pads. Austin has been dealing with a back injury for quite a while and his return would bolster a spot that’s been weakened by injuries for the Giants this summer.
