Mike Jenkins has finally returned to practice

The Cowboys got an unfamiliar sight on Sunday.

Cornerback Mike Jenkins was on the practice field and going through the workout with his teammates, according to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It’s the first time that Jenkins has practiced since last season as his recovery from shoulder surgery has kept him off the field so far this year. Jenkins was actually cleared to resume football activities last week, but wasn’t able to practice on Saturday because of migraine headaches.
The Cowboys have cast doubt on Jenkins’ chances of playing against the Giants in Week One and the fact that he’ll only get a couple of practices in before Wednesday won’t do much to help his readiness. It would be a good way to start building toward a return after the extra time between the first two games, though, and the Cowboys will provide a further update on his status when they release their first injury report of the year later on Sunday.

That report, specifically the information it holds about Jenkins, Miles Austin and Jason Witten, will do much to set the optimism level for Dallas heading into the season opener.
