Getty ImagesWith right tackle Rashad Butler lost for the year, the Texans needed some veteran depth behind new starter Derek Newton.
They got that depth on Sunday, officially adding veteran Ryan Harris.
Cut Friday by the Broncos, Harris will become reacquainted with the zone-blocking system the Broncos used when he joined the team via the third round of the 2007 draft.
Harris spent four seasons with the Broncos before joining the Eagles in free agency last year. He was released with an injury settlement, and he didn’t play in 2011.
Harris re-joined the Broncos earlier this year, but he didn’t make it onto the 53-man roster. He’s now on the 53-man roster in Houston.

Ryan Harris was on MTV’s “True Life: I want the perfect body” during his senior year of high school.
It looks like a good move on paper until you look at his injury history and the fact that he got cut from the Eagles and Broncos makes you wonder about his durability. Go Texans.
Skins should have gotten him.
Typical Kubiak. Head coach for 7 or 8 years and still the only team he talks to is the Broncos.
A vet backup for a young couples tackles to learn from. 1 year deal on the cheap. Nice. And a good guy too!
@ranksarot……I completely agree. Ole Kubes and Rick Smith are always shopping off the Denver Broncos scrap pile and Mike Shanahan Redskin rejects.
Yeah guys, ’cause it would have made more sense to pick up one of the other stud tackles available, and the fact that he’s familiar with the system was probably stupid too. If you’re gonna hate, try to have a reason
He has to be better than Tyler Polumbus, the Redskins current starting RT who self-destructed the Broncos when he was there, by among other things, injuring Elvis Dumerville
