The niners had 5 different offensive coordinators the 1st 5 years Alex Smith was there... Now he's working the same system 2 years in a row with a head coach that believes and supports him.. I bet with all his weapons and a young and improving front line he'll be darn good & having a motivated Randy Moss is nothing to scoff at...49ers could be real scary this year... Anyone talking crap Is just nervous of the potential & this is from a Patriots fan who hears the same crap from so many other teams fans year after year...

“Where are all those 9er fans who said AJ Jenkins wasn’t the biggest draft reach in a decade? Pretty sad when Ted Ginn is a better option.”

What is pretty sad is you are already declaring he was the biggest reach in a decade when he has yet to even get his career started. Let me ask you what else your crystal ball is telling you?

=================================

A first round pick who can't even get above the likes of Ted Ginn, Kyle Williams, Crabtree and the WR once known as Randy Moss. You figure just based on draft status he'd be higher.

But just for fun, name me a bigger reach this past decade. The worst I can think of was DHB (who in hindsight was the right pick), but DHB was at least a projected first round pick. The highest I saw Jenkins projected was round 3.

Glad you made yourself look like a clown saying there going to be embarrassed, when last season did that defense ever get embarrassed? Not once and their returning every starter. Whether they win or loose there's not a chance in he'll they get blown out or as you say embarassed!

They were good last year due to a relentless defense, a conservative offense that didn't turn the ball over and kick ass year from Akers kicking FGs. They played to Smith's strengths.

My concern with them this year is that they force the ball more downfield with Smith. Not sure the turnovers don't go up as a result and I'm not convinced Smith will consistently make teams pay.

They are solid upfront and have the most physical front seven in football and were a great tackling team last year.

They will win the division (11-5ish).

Let's take a look at these receivers:

1) Randy Moss. Has done NOTHING the last two years. Two years he destroyed all three teams he was on. Nobody even wanted him last year.

Look at all of his QB he's played with, and Alex Smith looks mostly like Kerry Collins. But now Moss is seven years older and has most likely lost a step.

2) Michael Crabtree. Tons of upside, but not mature enough to dedicate himself to football and has underwhelmed EVERY season so far. Maybe Moss can take him under his wings (LOL).

3) Mario Manningham. He put up pretty good numbers as the third WR in NY, but if he can't pass Crabtree with a stronger work ethic, I don't see him repeating those numbers with Smith throwing to him.

4) Ted Ginn is a poor, poor poor man's Devin Hester. He's a return guy being used as a receiver, and he's not a very good one.

5) Kyke Williams. Who? Seriously, who is this guy?

6) AJ Jenkins. Seriously, if he can't play himself onto this roster he CAN'T be that good.

That is one lame group of starting wide receivers.
Nothing special.

San Fran will be back to mediocrity after this year. I hate Green Bay but the Packers are gonna embarrass the Niners. Then week 2, the Lions will embarrass the Niners. The key word here is OVERRATED.

At the end of the day, Harbaugh still is a douche bag and the Niners are average at best.

it seems like the assumptions here are that every team except for San Fran got better. 13-3 again? probably not, but I wouldn't say it is out of the question. Definately double-digit wins though. There are not enough actual football fans on this site that can speak unbiased about all 32 teams. There are a few of us here, but we've been overrun by jagoffs like sclazo.

I bet you weren't thinking he plays scared in the playoffs against the saints? Enough with this Kaepernick stuff. The guy had ONE good preseason game in the last game against, with no pressure because people tend not to blitz in the preseason. He may have a cannon to throw with, but the guy flat out is not ready.

I understand Alex smith doesn't have the best arm but did Joe Montana? Even though the NFL is turning into two hand touch it's still about team chemistry and how bad you will sell out for your teammates. After smith went through 6 different coordinators, took heat from everyone, and stayed faithful to the niners, you think he doesn't have his teammates selling out for him. The niners may not play the passing game like the rest of the league but let's be real niners, ravens and steelers are still the teams handing out that good old physical ass kicking we all used to love

"Alex smith is going to surprise a lot of people this year I love how people still bag on him he has the potential to do what he did against the saints"

Psst, the Saints defense wasn't that good (24th in yards, 13th in PPG, 31st in takeaways, 32nd in covering up bounty programs).

@citynative - perfectly said!

There are some not smart people out there. Here are their favorite dumb arguments:

The 49ers had an easy schedule. - the niners played AFC north and NFC east last year and was 6-2. Those are considered the two toughest division in football. Plus we beat a playoff bound Lions team and a competitive 7-9 and 8-8 team in our division.

The niners have no QB. - 3100 yds, 17 Tds and only 5 ints. I'm good with that considering Aikman only threw for more than 17tds twice in his HOF career.

Niners reached for A.J. Jenkins. Most receivers struggle in their first couple years so why would we throw him out there when we don't need to. And Ginn is listed higher because he's the starting returner idiots.

What the hell are you talking about? its sad that red Ginn Jr is in the same position as a rookie, not the other way around dweeb! JM will implement Jenkins into the game plan when he needs to. You were probably the same hater who said Aldon Smith was a reach last year huh? LOL 14 sacks his rookie year. oouuccch!! ;) Go 9ers
