Witten’s fine, but he likely won’t play

images-1

As the Cowboys continue guard the results of tight end Jason Witten’s CT scan like it’s the crop report, indications remain that, while fine, Witten won’t play on Wednesday night.

That was the verdict last night from a league source with knowledge of the situation.

The strongest indication of the slamming of the door would come if Witten didn’t make the trip to New York with his teammates. But if he didn’t make the trek, he hasn’t been scratched, yet. Road teams with players listed as questionable or doubtful routinely are downgraded to out, when those players aren’t on the plane.

As Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram pointed out during a Tuesday visit to PFT Live, owner Jerry Jones has said that Witten has been cleared to play in Week Two, when the Cowboys travel to Seattle.

And that gives me an obvious opening to paste the code for Hill’s comprehensive look at the Cowboys as the opening of the season approaches.
