Although factually correct on Peyton’s record against LeBeau, Florio intends to paint the picture is was all against the Steelers and doesn’t include games against the bengals. Shame on you Florio.

LeBeau is the best and I salute his contributions to the NFL and particularly the Steelers. As a life long Steelers fan I can only hope that Dick has trained someone really well to fill in for him when he retires. I know, I know…….Dick LeBeau is never going to retire. Ahhhhhh……yes he is and I would suspect it would be soon. After the Steeler’s defensive collapse in the playoff game last January I figured that Dick would call it a day and admit that his zone blitz style of defense was obsolete. Dick LeBeau however jacked it up a notch and said “not so quick sonny, we have a lot to prove here”. I can hardly wait to see the ‘new Steelers’. LeBeau was really chopped down a peg by a rookie QB (a pretty bad one no less) last season. Dick LeBeau will not end his career on a note like that! Go Steelers!!!

an older QB like Manning knows how to manage a game. an older defense like Pittsburg’s however…… well let’s just hope they can keep up

Manning has a good record against LeBeau but he has still struggled against that D.

When they played in 2008, for instance, Manning threw for like 260 yards. One of his passes was a 60 yard pass to Wayne that bounced off of Ike Taylor’s hands–it should have been a pick.

Manning might not have even passed for 200 yards in a game against that D. That’s pretty impressive considering how good Manning is/was.

Obviously, the win is the only thing that matters, but don’t be fooled; LeBeau’s 3-4 has given Manning fits.

Happy early Bday Dick LeBeau! I always like to point out I was born in the same Hospital as Lebeua. Madison county hospital, in Ohio. Him in 37 and me in 73. To this day the county has a population of about 20k. I bet it wasn’t 10k when Lebeau lived there. I still live about 20 miles away. It’s amazing a man that came from a small farming community like that one, ended up as one of the greatest DCs ever.

Does the 6-1 record include when LeBeau was a head coach with the Bengals? I was under the impression Peyton was 2-2 (thanks Vanderjagt!) against the Steelers

Manning doesn’t struggle against 3-4 Ds ..he struggles against GOOD 3-4 Ds ..like most other QBs. He’s also shredded plenty of good 3-4s too

If Manning had some fatal flaw to his game then EVERY D would play a 3-4.

Really this whole “Manning struggles against the 3-4″ myth was really the case of 2 defensive coordinators who’ve been his kryptonite his entire career: Romeo Crennel (Manning has owned BB’s 3-4) and Ron Rivera

Crennel in particular just has a knack for flustering Peyton, even on bad teams like the Browns and Chiefs

Dick LeBeau is a marvelously blessed person, functioning at a very high level at his age. The guy is just a wonder. And frankly he shows no signs of slowing down at all. Tomlin, although preferring a 4-3 defense, was wise to retain him when he became the Steelers head coach.

Thank goodness for us Steeler fans.
