1) The Packers D will be vastly improved this year…and they led the league in turnover ratio in 2011. The only reason they got that far down in the rankings in points against and in yards given up was because the offense could hardly be stopped and the D was on the field 75% of the time.
2) For a guy whose team may be sitting with a big goose egg in the win column by year’s end, I would expect you to turn on some old reruns rather than watch what maybe the best game all year. It’s not like you have a clue at what good football looks like anyway. Let’s rehash this bad defense talk come April, when your boys are drafting in the top 3 or 4 picks for some help. Congrats on finally getting indoor plumbing and a satellite dish to work over there too….crowning achievements.

Sadly, the 49ers defense is a stop the run first defense (in a dominant passing league). If you look at our secondary, we were in the middle of the pack. We are a swarm to the ball type of defense and usually don’t get burned deep, but the Packers will score on us, we have to score back!

This is GB preparing for the possibility of a back up QB coming in for a handful of gimmick plays. It doesn’t mean that Alex Smith isn’t THE QB for the team, it just means that he’ll be facing a defense that is less prepared for the basic offense than other teams b/c of the threat of the gimmick. (That’s a good thing)
