With the new carryover rule it no longer makes sense to look at the salary cap in a one year vacuum. You need to start looking ahead. The Eagles are 17MM over the estimated 2013 cap.

As a 49er fan that lives by philly…this pretty comical. The eagles got a hell of a deal by trading kolb to the cards. Oh he’s the backup to skelator now? Lol not sure if that deal effected the cap space but I just like laughing at the cardinals.

Cap space rolls over year to year so this will give them 20.5 million more on top of their cap next year. This will help pay for increasing salaries for Vick, Lesean, and Jackson as well as resign guys like DRC and Maclin. Bell will be gone and if Peters comes back 100% next season I expect them to extend his contract a few years to avoid a $1o million cap hit in 2013. 4 straight Division Championships, 11 total Division Championships, 3 Conference Championships, and 3 NFL Championships but yeah, you guys are right, we NEVER win anything. We only had the second highest winning percentage in the NFL from 2000-2010, an entire decade of success, but yeah, you guys are right, we NEVER win anything.

As Chairman of the committee, he decides the agenda. He should have decided that there were no rules broken and acted accordingly. Instead he implicated the entire league in collusion. I wouldn’t want to be where the Eagles are at with cap space, maybe a little more toward the middle of the pack. If you get hit with the IR bug within the first couple of weeks, It would be nice to have some extra room to play with, that way your not limited to who you can afford to replace your players with. You don’t want to be where the Eagles are though, too much means you are not extending all that you could be. So next season when you are in a jam because you have two players you want to extend, but only enough cap space for one, you’ll remember all the money you left last year that you could have used up.

it’s because joe banner and howie roseman are one of the best when it comes to money. both of them don’t know a whole lot about football they just know how to manage money. Just because an eagle signs a 5 yr 50 million dollar contract doesnt mean they are gonna see all of that money. they just know how to balance it out correctly and cut a veteran with a big contract when they are in a decline (asante samuel)

The browns are lucky to get joe banner. He is not a players guy by any means. Most players hate him. But he knows how to get good players for cheap and save money.

How is this a good thing? The objective of every team should be to even out its salary cap usage so they are somewhere close to the cap every year.
Too far less means the team isnt spending.
