APJames Laurinaitis will remain in St. Louis for many more years.
Laurinaitis, a linebacker who has been with the Rams since they selected him in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft, has signed a five-year contract extension, the team announced today.
The extension adds five years beyond the 2012 season, which was the last year of his rookie contract, which means he is now under contract to the team through the 2017 season. According to Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $41.5 million, with $23.5 million guaranteed.
Laurinaitis has started all 16 games in all three of his seasons in St. Louis, and now the Rams have ensured that he’ll remain in place through the prime years of his career.

Poor guy…
They should hire his pops to do commentary on the radio.
According to Adam Schefter it was a 5-year deal worth $41.5M ($23.5M guaranteed).
Man I really feel like St. Louis can take over the West this year.
WHOOOOOO.
Huge signing for the Ram’s. One of the most underated LB’s in the game
GO RAMS GO!!!
AHHhhhh what a rush!
Well done…Congrats to him. WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!
sorry…couldn’t help myself.
YES!
JL finished third in the NFL in solo tackles last year.
Underrated, productive, tough and very football smart. Easy decision.
Hold on folks, I think we may be at the edge of something monumental. I believe in the very near future we will be seeing a NFL player “coming out” emboldend by the wave of support for gay rights we are seeing through many of the media outlets. This has been discussed for years by the press asking players if they would have a problem being a team mate with an openly gay man. Obviously, no one has felt confident enough to believe they will be supported by the NFL, their team mates or the fans to do so. Honestly, it is long over due and I would hope it will have a positive effect when it does happen. There will always be people trying to use this issue for their own political agenda. Personally, I could care less what people are doing in their own bedroom. I am just ready for some football.
Minnesota kid, would have liked to seen him with the Vikes. Congrats!
@ddogdaddy
Your comment is on the wrong article! Not sure how you managed to do that.
Another successful Ohio State player! Fisher will get that team contending soon!
That last name always reminds me of something you would have to visit the free clinic to cure.
I’d like to see this man action with some decent DT’s in front of him.

You cannot cure Laurinaitis, you can only hope to contain it.
Me neither. I was so proud of the comment too. What an idiot. Sorry for the confusion.
Thats a lot money for a middle of the road linebacker.
@thehighhat Laurinaitis is a friggin beast. He just happens to be in the wrong division possibly even conference to get due recognition because of Willis and Bowman…. Beason, Urlacher…. Truthfully i think he is at the least the 5th best mlb in the league. When you factor the line ahead of him and guys like Urlacher still getting the popularity vote he gets drown out. In the AFC he is a perennial pro bowler IMO. No way the rams can take over any higher than 3rd though. They are on the upswing but got a long way to go
His drafting in the second round is a show of ineptitude by most NFl teams. He may not be top player but sure Is someone who can play in the league and was showing that since he was in school. Congrats for the contract
Played against him in high school and he was a man amongst boys. Literally to the point where there were A LOT of rumors he had performance enhancing help (PEDs) honestly it is probably likely he was on something, especially considering his old man was a professional wrestler; all of those guys have access to PEDs.
If Sam Bradford lives up to his potential , the media can dub the captains of the offense and defense, The Legion Of Doom, Or The Road Warriors. Of Course, James would be Animal!
