Only statement was made is that the Packers couldn’t stop the run against the Niners, like they couldn’t stop the run against the Giants in the playoffs last year. When the Lions take away Frank Gore, and everyone knows Smith has to pass, he will look like the same garbage QB he usually looks like.

Smith is a fraud. And the 49ers won’t win any championship with him as their QB. Right it down!

Lets see… Offensive coordinator is gone.. Worse defense in the NFL last season an looks even worse this season.. NO running game at all .. Benson had 8 yards. The Packers are WEAK.. By the way Jennings has a bad groin. Chicago will send them to 0/2

hey buddy. from the looks of it… the niners had the better receivers yesterday. so no alex will not take your receivers. oh… and he does play against the san fran defense everyday at practice. thats why he torched the weak greenbay defense and is so good. nice try though buddy.

I would say its 9ers fans and thier memories and having a QB that was cabable to lead a team in the Superbowl is what you guys are dreaming of.

The 9ers could have easily have who is argued to be the best in the game now, all they had to do is right it on a card.

Its still one game, if the Packers are still “in the basement” going into thier bye week. then I will admit I was wrong.

There is still tons of football left.

funny how everyone was saying that the niners are a one dimensional team with only a great defense. Listen here haters… the only one dimensional team that played in this game was the packers who rely on one player to get the job done and with a horrible defense and 0 running game. Niners beat them in all 3 phases of the game. offense defense and ST.

A few points I’ll agree with.

1. The block in the back call/non-call/missed-call. Seriously screwed up.

2. Mathews and Rodgers making commercials.. Agreed, they might want to dial that back.

3. San Fran is a good team. no doubt.

A few points I disagree with…

1. Taking off the helmet.. If he had taken it off, adjusted the strap and put it back on, there probably wouldn’t have been a call.. instead he took it off and threw it. Not good. (He could have thought the play was still active and was clearing his helmet to continue pursuit.. so I’ll give him the benefit)

2. “It’s just one game” doesn’t wash. This has been a systemic problem all last year (defense) and further (lack of running game). At some point MM is going to have to rethink his philosophy. “Run enough to keep the defense honest” isn’t running enough.

The 49ers Defense got a lil sloopy near the end of the game when Green Bay scored that last T.D refs killed most of the game anyways good game.

For everyone complaining about the officiating being so one sided…just stop. The officiating was horrendous but you can make arguments for both sides.

Also, lets stop overreacting after week 1. These are two of the top teams in the NFC, it’s not like the Packers lost to the Colts, the 49ers are a legitimate contender.

We(the packers) obviously have a lot to work on but I’m not going to give up on the season because we lost to arguably the best team in the NFC.

There are no excuses becasuse of the officiating. The Packers played flat on D, just like last year. They drew one of the toughest teams in the NFC for the first game. Too bad they didn;t have a patsy like the other division memebrs did. The offense will be fine. Everbody knows how to play them now, so there are not expectations of 15-1 again. 11-5 is pretty good and better than most teams. I would be OK with that. The D will get better, and they’ll still beat Minnesota twice. All is good. Have faith.

Ummm, how about all the missed Holding penalities at least 4. The long gainer on the second drive of the game for the 9ers on 3rd down never should have happen because Matthews was so badly held.
How about the missed false start when the tackle had a 2 step head start. Also, a badly missed facemask at the end of the game on Rodgers 2nd to last play.

People come to see football… Not officials!!!

Packers defense is TERRIBLE. I should specifically say, their secondary is terrible. How is Jarrett Bush in a uniform much less starting? He literally gave them 90% of their passing yards over the span of the game. After every catch, you see #24 trotting ten yards behind after his man was finally tackled.

The refs were terrible on both sides; YES that was a block in the back on the Cobb return, but the refs missed about 5 or 6 offsides/false start penalties prior to that play that ended some Packer drives and extended some 9er drives, so I think that’s a wash.

That said – wow- 9ers defense is solid.

Starting to think that Dom Caper’s seat should start getting warmer. His track record is to inherit a bad defense and propel them toward the top in the first 2 yrs and then steadily drop toward the bottom of the league. Same is holding true in GB.

Niners wr’s and offense are rarely going to beat you deep yet his CB’s don’t jam at the line of scrimmage and worse yet play 10 yds off.

The biggest problem with the Packers losing this game is that they have a short week to get ready for a division rival — lose that and they are 0-2 about 1 week into the season.

The Niners are a very good team, no doubt. But as much as I depise them, the Packers aren’t going away quite that easy.

Not seeing much in the way of the lop-sided officiating. That was one of the worst called games I’ve ever seen in all my 40+ years of watching Packer ball. Horrendous.

Finally we have refs that aren’t afraid to call pass interference on the GB d-backs. For years, the Packers have gotten more leeway from the regular refs on clutching, holding, grabbing & hitting receivers before the ball got there. Apparently, the replacement refs don’t have any special allegiances because they actually called them on it. Bravo!

Back in the day, it used to be said the clothes make the man…….. if that’s still true today, then it should be obvious, replacement officials don’t belong in the NFL. Their faded non-fitting uniforms look like they were purchased from a local thrift shop.

Overall officiating is a debacle, to detect in several cases delayed penalties with senses other than vision provides nothing more than additional
pee breaks……..

Goodell if you can’t get it done bring in a mediator….

Rodgers mentioned post-game about seeing the ’9ers again. Granted it’s only one game against an excellent team but if the Pack doesn’t get both their offensive line and defensive issues together in a hurry they won’t have to worry about seeing San Fran again.

I read everyone’s comment and it was very interesting and entertaining. I agree, officiating was bad on both sides but the niners had became the complete team from west coast passing, smash mouth run game, solid special team and stout defense. As a niners fan this is the greatest win because it’s against our rivals the packers who had beaten the niners 9 games straight…so winning at lambeau is a great feeling for the players, franchise and the faithfuls..,I’m not going to gloat about this win because come playoff time, I think the packs will be more prepared. Oh in addition, Rodgers made a bet with a member of boys 2 men that he loses to the niners, he will have to wear an Alex smith jersey for a week…someone’s needs to take a picture of that. Rodgers is one of my favorite QB, he’s very competitive and he gets along with everyone. Anyways, one game at a time and by the way the lions played with their thin secondary, I think the niners chances are high at winning that game.

This was just a game between two good teams it’s to early to celebrate the win 49ers have a tough schedule and the packers have a so called easy schedule so there’s a good chance we will meet again in the playoffs. I love my niners and am happy to win this 1 but 1-0 don’t mean jack lots of mistakes and missed opportunities to correct keep on trucking and get work done 9ernation.

after this win the 49ers look like very legit contenders for the superbowl.i know its just week one but hey if they can play this good all season why shouldnt they have a shot to do what they did last year and that’s win the nfc title game and go to the Superbowl. alex smith looks better and they have added moss and manningham they still have a very good defense and probably one of the best coaches in the nfl. should be very exciting in sanfran this year

Last year’s offensive teams that didn’t improve their defense are the fluke teams to be honest, and that’s no disrespect to Rodgers and the Packers, I’m a Cal guy so I’m definitely a fan of Rodgers. But thanks to the lock out last year the offensive side of the ball definitely had the upper hand against the defensive side. Look how much has changed after 1 off season? Remember week 1, Matt Moore and Brady threw roughly 800 yards in a game, a rookie Cam Newton came in with 400+. 3 QBs surpassed 5k yards, 5 if Eli threw for a few more and if Rodgers had played. Last year’s defensive performance was anemic across the board. So if your defense was bad last year, and it didn’t improve, then it’s far worst this year.

Are you kidding me? Do you know how ridiculous that argument is? I feel like if Alex Smith won the Super Bowl people would be all “whatever, the defense won it. He just managed them to the Super Bowl.”

Here is the thing no one seems to understand, 49er fans are going around calling him Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers (and if they are they’re wrong). All we’re saying is that he isn’t complete garbage and the ridiculous “who is going to get them the ball” and “just a game manager stuff” cliches are outdated and don’t reflect his last season, his playoff performance, or the last game he played.
