Nate

"Children working 100 hours and 7 days a week for pennies a day in deadly and poisonous conditions with no breaks or healthcare was an awesome part of our history!"

Maybe it's you that has been brainwashed - possibly by your ultra liberal education (assuming you are as "educated" as you imply).

I grew up in a very strong union area, with some of the best public schools in the nation - on the Iron Range in norther MN.

It's because of my excellent education and my exposure to the many problems with the labor unions that kept striking for more and more and more - which ultimately left 1,000 of union members without jobs that I feel the way I do.

Labor unions once were a wonderful thing. That ceased to be the case several decades ago.

I can understand the anti-union sentiment...

Children working 100 hours and 7 days a week for pennies a day in deadly and poisonous conditions with no breaks or healthcare was an awesome part of our history!

Obviously, the ref union is not a real union. It's a bunch of lawyers who call football games 20 weeks out of the year. I'm not equating the refs union to REAL unions, but my point is that all you low-to-medium income workers hate unions, and you don't even know why, and you aren't educated on unions enough to make informed decisions, and yet proceed to vote for legislation on the subject, often times which work to serve the interests of corporations and against your own.

It's an education issue. But it's not your fault, Republicans have been poisoning and neglecting the public education system for decades, and this is the result. Then they force religious wedge issues upon you to confuse you. You've been brainwashed to hate your fellow man. It's sad, but evolution will fix it over time. The arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice.

It’s hilarious how the Republicans (AKA Corporations) have succeeded in completely villainizing unions so much, that the very people who rely on their accomplishments (rednecks) would choose to protect corporate interests against their own.
--------------------------------------------------------
How much were these striking refs looking to make off their part-time second jobs?

Yeah, the man is keepin' them DOWN, nate!

Man, we really need to increase public education spending in this country.

Can someone please explain these safety reasons to me. When has a ref ever prevented an injury? It isn't like there is going to be an epidemic of late hits since whatever may be missed on the field(won't be much anyone can identify these) by the refs will be severely punished afterwards.

Plus the locked out refs are the ones that thought Colt McCoy and Stewart Bradley could return to a game after two of the most obvious concussions I have ever seen. Bradley collapsed face first on the field and they let him back in the game!
