Fred Jackson to miss a month or more

Fred Jackson AP

Bills coach Chan Gailey confirmed that running back Fred Jackson would be out “a few weeks,” helping out by putting the range between three and eight.

An MRI on his right knee was inconclusive, but Gailey said Jackson would miss significant time.

“It’s not going to be three [weeks], but I don’t think it’s going to be eight,” Gailey said, via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News. “It’s probably somewhere there in between. Hopefully, sooner.

The prognosis is decent.”

It wasn’t as bad as the news on wide receiver David Nelson (out for the year, torn ACL), but it was bad nonetheless.

The Bills are probably going to have to fill Nelson’s spot with a back, since the only healthy ones they have on the roster are C.J. Spiller and Tashard Choice.

But unless they get better play from their quarterback, it might not matter.

Fitzpatrick was just so horrible,….he looked so bad that I was feeling bad for him,..and I’m a Jet fan.

Sucks for the Bills but it looks like Spiller is ready to take the next step.

And their only healthy WR’s are Stevie Johnson, Donald Jones, special teamer Ruvell Martin and raw rookie TJ Graham.

They need a functioning WR a bit more than a 3rd RB. In fact, they likely need two WR’s, but that’s a bit much to ask for….

Just feed the ball the C.J over and over again. The guy was just explosive Sunday

@waussau Agreed, I took charles last yr and jackson this year

On a side note I hate seeing these types of injuries.

I’m a chiefs fan and got to witness 1st hand what being banged up does to a team. Our 2nd string 2ndary looked like a high school team against Julio Jones. Not to mention no pass rush with Hali missing. Stars make a huge difference.

Hope to hear Jackson makes a speedy recovery. He’s one of the most underrated performers in the league today.

Signing Fitzpatrick to his contract may turn out to being a big mistake by Buffalo. Since he signed that contract last year,he looks mediocre at best. And what happened to the Defense the Bills spent huge $$ on in the off season?
Mark Sanchez and the Jets hung 48 on the Bills.

Its only week #1 but I was shocked the Jets blew the Bills out !

The Bills can use Dorin Dickerson if it really comes down to it. What they need is to bolster their Wide Receiver corps. Bring back Naaman Roosevelt or pull Aiken or Easley from the PS. The way Ryan Fitzpatrick played, he is going to need as much help as he can get.

I can’t believe no one has bought up the fact that it was a cheap shot on Jackson who the hell dives head first at a players knee

-I think it was telling that in Gaileys post game interview (immediately after the game) he mentioned he had ALREADY talked to Wanstadt asking where the pass rush was! I think Wanstadts going to be under some pressure to have that unit produce.

-I didn’t like Williams complaining about the illegal play of the Jets tackle but after I read it I watched all (way too many) Jet’s highlites on Sportscenter and on almost every highlite he did have his hands in Williams face.

-Sounds like they are going to need both a rb and wr, who goes – maybe the extra kicker?

maybe VYoung release was too soon, Jets could not contain the run, yes Fitz is smarter put not better

Well, the Jets offense didn’t score 48, they scored 34. Punt return and pick six accounted the other 14.
Regardless, yes the Bills defense was atrocious. Gonna b tough to beat anyone if you let ‘em score 34 points

Great, just what the Bills need, to lose another player to injury due to explosion…
