Greg Jennings may miss Thursday’s game with a groin injury

Greg Jennings‘ contract year isn’t off to a great start.

He caught five passes for only 34 yards in a 30-22 loss to the 49ers, and now Jennings may not be able to play on Thursday night, when the Packers host the Bears.

Via the Associated Press, Jennings injured his groin late in Sunday’s game.  Coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Jennings “didn’t feel very good” on Sunday night, but that he felt better on Monday morning.

The Packers, 15-1 last year and 0-1 after the home loss, desperately need to avoid emerging from the first 25 percent of their home schedule with an 0-2 record.

A seventh-year veteran, Jennings has played his entire career with the Packers.  He’s due to become a free agent in March, and he reportedly isn’t interested in talking any further about a new deal during the season.

There is a long list of guys TT has signed before they hit UFA.

Is it a coincidence that Randall Cobb has emerged as a major part of the Packer offense?

Don’t think so…my bet is Jennings is history.

a little showmanship? yah, one weapon down, one weapon replaced for the packers..

His asking price is dropping exponentially.

Come On. This is Greg Jennings. He puts the team on his back. Plays with a broken leg. Like a groin is going to hold him back…..

Pierre Garcon is much better than this guy.

What was Jennings thinking doing that old spice commercial? It’s really bad.

Greg Jennings may be in a contract year but he is not a top 10 receiver in the league. I’m sure he will want that kind of money and as a rival team’s fan I hope the Packers show him the money.

IR him and put Transition tag on him. Bring up Borel from PS, and sign an off lineman to develop. Get a 1st or 2nd for him, rather than a third from comp picks. Let him find out not every QB is Brett or Aaron. Or Franchise him and sign him long term. Or let the Viking’s give up 2 1st round top 5 picks to sign him away, and have him blow out a knee next opener on the metrodumps “fine” surface.

Packers haven’t been the same since he got hurt and he seems somewhat disgruntled.

    Bears fan here:

He will play because this game has a lot of weight on it, even if it is week two.

I want him to be healthy and on the field. I want to see how the Bears line up this year with the reigning NFCN champs.

    Go Bears!

If he wants his big paycheck, he best heal fast. Great receiver, maybe not a #1 anymore? Go jordy and jonesy. We do not need to pay him like a elite end. Dear Teddy T, please trade him for
A running back. Ced Benson? Are you kiddin me??

Cue the grabby packer fan excuses for why the bears win on Thursday.

  16. thankheavenfornumberseven says: Sep 11, 2012 1:10 AM

Next man up, right, Packer fans? Remember when it seemed so easy to win games?

Green Bay looked nearly unstoppable at times last year during the regular season, but they definitely looked worse when Jennings missed time due to injury.

Packers could still win without him, but they would do much better with him. I think he plays, unless it’s a severe injury that would require a week’s rest, in which case they’ll keep him out so he has these few days plus long break between this Thursday night game and the week 3 game to heal.

Doesn’t matter if he plays or not – Rogers is happy with what he’s accomplished in his career – now he’s just looking for his paycheck . And dom capers and his fake hair are too old to coach anymore – maybe a high school team would want him – doubt it though

One of the reasons Donald Driver is still in uniform.

  20. doug1grohlin says: Sep 11, 2012 8:24 AM

As a Bear fan, I want him out there. I want both teams to be healthy and see what happens.

  21. lrt79 says: Sep 11, 2012 8:25 AM

I don’t like seeing anyone injured, but this can only help the Bears.

  22. The Prophet says: Sep 11, 2012 9:30 AM

doesn’t want to talk during the season? Sounds like someone wants to test the waters of free agency?

  23. shibbyleigh says: Sep 11, 2012 9:49 AM

Can you please stop making it seem like Jennings is looking for a way out of Green Bay? He said numerous times he’s not talking about a contract to be focused on the season. He only wants to hear from his agent if there’s a serious offer ready before the end of the season. He’s also said he wants to remain in Green Bay and is letting whatever happens play out.

  24. chi01town says: Sep 11, 2012 10:41 AM

Jennings is hurt again..ha that dumb coach wont play Driver…. thanks!!!! Chicago is coming packers fans. an bringing plans to put Greenbay in the hole. 0/2 … IN 2 days!!!

  25. purpleguy says: Sep 11, 2012 10:41 AM

The Pack has plenty of WRs, and if they lose Thursday it won’t be because of Jennings’ injury — it will be the defense’s fault.

  26. Frazier28/7 says: Sep 11, 2012 12:09 PM

Who’s in 4th place in the NFC North? 🙂

Sorry Packer fans, welcome to ‘paper championship’ hell. Great great offense, no defense. You’ll make the playoffs though, especially once the real refs come back.

  27. mgpet says: Sep 11, 2012 1:29 PM

The Niners didn’t injure his groin, he injured it himself.

  28. onbucky96 says: Sep 11, 2012 4:01 PM

Uh oh, the Karma gods strike again. Next time, don’t talk about your impending Free Agency.
