As a Ravens fan, I am thrilled to have another good team in the area. RG3 is different because he is much smarter and more articulate than the average QB. And he is humble and smart enough to know what he doesn't know. I am proud to have him in DC.

I am still a forever Ravens fan first, but I am so glad he is in DC. If RG3 had Flacco's arm and height, Redskins would be in the Superbowl every year.

Colin Cowherd of ESPN has an agenda , he had discredit RG3 / dedicated Andrew Luck apologist / kill Michael Vick show . he obviously knows demographically who to attack on his show . I call him Colin COWARD !
______
Sort of a good point, but as a black man with a background in marketing, the fact is that racism of any sort has no place in advertising today. That's not to say that some programming and advertisements don't target specific demographics. Just that in 2012, attacking a specific demographic is never an effective marketing strategy.

Point being, just like Skip Bayless, I don't think Cowherd is a racist, I think he's just an idiot.

Also, a dislike of Michael Vick is universally understandable, and assuming that an opinion of Vick: pro or con; is racially based is, in itself, prejudiced.

Also, no offense, but please don't tell me you think you're clever for coming up with "Colin Coward".

Seriously ... shanny should get most of the credit.
The first Redskins drive ... how many bump off passes ... all 5 or 6 of them . Then the stupid Saints coaches get burned on the first play on the second drive by trying to cover the short dump off passes ... lol you could see that coming.
How many passes did the Saints drop???
How bad is the Saints D??
It's only one game ... Let's see how he handles being down by 6 with 2 minutes to go against a good defense before you crown with god since superman is already taken.

Redskin fans are funny. Completely ignoring the fact that they gave up 32 points. Hope RGIII can put 40 up every week.
________
The defense gave up 25 points (7 points of punt block return) to the best offense and best quarterback they are going to play this year, who was playing catch-up, and running a no-huddle offense all afternoon. Clearly the secondary needs a lot of work, but still, giving up 25 to an angry, hungry Saints offense is impressive. Considering that Washington doesn't play Green Bay or New England this year, Griffin probably won't need to pt up 40 points again this season.

However before you criticize the defense for allowing 25 points, or even 32, consider that New Orleans had 23 three-and-outs all of last year, and Washington forced six in this game alone. No one is saying that Washington should be the new Super Bowl favorite or even that this is an elite team. Just that maybe it isn't as bad as everyone thought.

I for one am stoked to see another Peyton vs Brady type of rivalry in the making, and just like Brady… it looks like RG3 will get the early success. Enjoy it while it lasts ‘skins fans!
_________

I'm pretty sure I agree, rivalries are great, but at the same time, I'm not totally sure what your point was here. It sounds like you're trying to say the Redskins will win three Super Bowls and then lose two to the Colts, and somehow that's a bad thing.

While that's a bold prediction by any stretch of the imagination, I don't think any Washington fan would be upset by the prospect of three Super Bowl rings in the near future, and having a quarterback playing at Brady's level 12 years from now.

That's all dumb redskins fans really want to hear. When they rant and rave and write asinine things in all capital letters, all they're looking for is for people to say, "OK, I guess I was wrong, this team isn't a joke. They aren't, as ESPN predicted, going to win two games this season. Maybe they even have the makings of a team that will be pretty dang good in a couple years."

I think you have the Skins offense confused with what the Broncos did last year with Tebow. The Skins don't run a college offense. They have some things sprinkled in that play to Griffin's strengths as an athlete, but its not a system that relies on gimmicks.

Griffin won't have great games like he had yesterday every week, but he didnt catch the Saints by surprise because of trick plays. He made good reads, great decisions and some good throws. Things will definitely get more difficult for him, but lets not downplay how amazing a debut game he had.

Weird, given that I've seen games at FedEx field where opposing teams' fan bases exhibit a greater presence than did Redskins fans in attendance. That one of your criteria for "best fan base in the world?"

The Kolb/Griffin comparison is laughable. And whatever idiot said watch the game he was throwing to wide open recievers, youre wrong pal. I just rewatched and he was zipping it in there. Now we all know that RGIII is a rookie. Generally the things rookies struggle with are reading defenses, going through progressions, and desicion making. These three things Robert excelled at not just yesterday but all preseason as well. It has nothing to do with the Saints. Now obviously the Skins will face much better defenses than N.O.'s and that will make it harder for him. But what I was wondering is "is this guy the real deal? Does he belong in the NFL?" I think the answer is a resounding yes. And the Redskins were really just a QB away. And as long as Pierre is healthy I think he may be a top reciever this year. Bottom line is if we stay healthy and RG plays at this kind of level, we are relevant again and may contend for the division! THAT feels good!

Man, Redskins fan are annoying as crap. Its terrible that they can take people who thought Griffin would be a good QB (like myself) and completely turn them off. DC people are annoying as hell.
------------------------------------------------------
Are you kidding me???? A fan from Philly has the nerve to say anything about fans. The same city that had a jail in it’s Stadium, spits on visiting fan, has children giving the middle finger. Look in the mirror first, before you start talking about annoying fans. The team has not been good for two decades, let fans enjoy it. That’s what fans do, get excited and sometimes irrational.
-----------------------------------------------------
...and lets not forget the "throwing snowballs at Santa Clause" event on a nationally televised game.

It was great to be finally back to NFL weekends. I enjoyed everything I saw, good or bad, and have just one general statement to make: "there's still 15 more games to go".

It's the first game of the season, Griffin is new to other teams so they don't have much to scout from, and the defense he was playing against is under new management (meaning the guys don't get bonuses to play). We've seen this before in Washington. A fast start and then a mid-season collapse.

We have no evidence that Griffin is the real deal. We don't know yet if he can sustain his performance for an entire NFL season. We don't even know if he'll end up being like Tony Romo in the playoffs - one and done.

I am a Redskin fan but this will be a long season and it will be full of doubt. When Griffin can play like this with half his offensive line banged up or replaced and have 2nd string wide receivers to throw to after the starters are out for the season, then we start attributing something to him.

The game against the Saints is one the Redskins should have won as the Saints are now decimated by their own foolish conduct in the past. Right now the Redskins will merely be among the 16 teams that won this week. The upcoming Ram game is a trap game - we've seen the Redskins win and come in and look awful against horrible teams. If the Redskins only win by 8 against the Rams, then we know the team is only a middle performer in the league and not rising to the top. If the Redskins launch hell and fury against the Rams and bury them, then we can at least feel good to be 2-0 without having to put an asterisk by the win "survived a one point win by intercepting the last pass of the game".

Hail to the Skins! The Saints didnt have corners, the Saints didnt are ranked 30th in pass defense. But the Skins dont have any talents so that should have been no problem for the Saints. RGIII definitely made everyone look good. His ability to hide the ball is amazing almost Joe Namath like. there were times in that game when I really couldnt tell if he gave the ball to the running back only to see the ball come flying out the back field. The Skins have no line but wow did you see how shanahan setup up the fb and hb for protections. Hes a rookie and i expect mistakes but all i can say is wow for the first outing. I texted my friends before the game and said tune in you are about to see something special and RGIII didnt disappoint.

Redskins fans, remember 3 things

1. It was the first game. Remember Ryan leaf started 2-0 where Peyton started 0-2. In fact he went 13-3 and threw more picks than tds.

2. The saints are not a good defensive team. They did rank 30th last season and let’s add 3. Right here. They are playing with an intern to the intern coach. They had no defense last year and lost the head coach for the year followed by losing the intern coach for 6 games.

So congradulations you beat a team that has no head coach and was a bad defense last season. A team that was incredibly distracted all off season with Brees contract, bountygate and lawsuits. Redskins are surly going to win the sb now. Come back when you beat a real team

Let me get this straight..it sounds like with all your knowledge you must have picked the skins over the saints before the game. I really doubt it.
You picked the saints and then come here and tell us all how bad they are after they lose to the skins. You have no credibility your just a vaginats fan with angst becuase your team is the only team in the basement right now. From the big house to the outhouse, at least the vagiants dont have far to fall sucker.

Exactly.

What is lost in the shuffle is the Saints were playing without Vilma, a banged up secondary, and the first time any defensive coordinator has seen RGIII on the pro level, without a chance to game plan accordingly....

That being said, all props to RGIII...

But lets just see how it looks after the dust has settled....

rgIII definitely looked the part yesterday in the dome but let's see what happens over the next 15 games before we declare him the second coming. he is impressive no doubt and i've always been a fan, i do believe he's got a leg up on the mental part of the game already which is 3/4 of the battle. all of these guys are great athethes but it's the one who have the mental strenghth and intelligence who succeed. 1 game does not a season make though, whether you win or lose. our saints will bounce back although to me it looked like they missed sean payton more than anything else. but as bad as they played all game, they still had a chance to win in the end. they don't quit!!!! WHO DAT!!!!!!!!! SAINTS BABY!!!!!!!!
