Take away the blocked-punt TD, and the defense held NO to 25 points — that’s a team that averaged over 40 points at home last year!

I’d say that’s a pretty respectable showing.

Nobody’s putting RG3 in the HOF. I agree that we need to give both Luck and RG3 some time to see what they can really do. It is in fact only one game. But what about your claims that RG3 will in fact be a bust before ever playing even ONE game? Is that not worse?

the redskins arent weak at receiver. they’re actually solid as long as pierre garcon plays and he says he will next week. they are very deep at receiver and TE and have backs that catch as well.

and no you dont NEED a megatron. what have the lions ever won with him? look at the teams that have won super bowls recently. their QBs turned their receivers into good ones but no megatron anywhere near the superbowl.

Newton was shutdown after teams got hour weeks of tape on him. He never sniffed another 300 yard game after that.

Griffin looks to be a better passer than Newton, but wait until October when he crashes back to earth.

We’ll see how the year pans out. One game does not a year make.

The bears D has a habit of making teams look bad

No questions Griffin will be a franchise QB for years to come? AS a Skins fan I hope you are right, but there is a while to go for Griffin to establish himself as a bonafide franchise QB. Just 1 game folks. Don’t jinx him please.

Once defenses have some film on him and the offense it won’t be so easy for him.

I don’t think the folks in STL had a choice. Bradford was drafted right before the whole rookie salary cap thing went into effect. That means he has a MONSTER contract. The contract probably makes it tough to trade him or to roster two highly paid QBs, if they drafted RG3.

I’d rather Griffin resemble good old Sonny Jurgensen, a true Skins ledgend, then Sunshine Joey T. But thanks for the kind words.

Sure was refreshing to see a rookie QB wearing a Skins uniform perform at a high level. I am 36 years old and I don’t think that has ever happened in my lifetime. And Gus Ferrotte doesn’t count.

But this was only 1 game. 1 game that the Shanahan’s had a while to game plan for. With a normal work week for the Skins to prepare for the Rams, and tape of the Skins offense with Griffin at the wheel for Jeff Fisher and the Rams to study, this weeks game versus the Rams will be a good indicator as to whether Griffin can continue to contribute at this high level, or if he will come back down to earth like his fellow rookie QB’s did this past week.

Should be interesting regardless, and fun for us Skins fans.

I don’t want to bash Griffin b/c he played a hell of a game for a Rookie, but I would like to point out a few things.
1. The Redskins just beat a team with no head coach
2. The Saints did not have their defensive captain
3. The game was played in a dome w/ good weather (much like the majority of Griffins college games were on a turf field w/ no bad weather, Fedex field has rain almost 50% of home games over the course of a season
4. Saints were playing with a new defensive coordinator
5. The Saints didn’t play like the Saints, little effort, dropped passes, missed assignments
6. It was still a one possession game after putting up 40 pts. I thought the Skins were supposed to have a dominant defense?

To the people saying “this is one game”; I have a feeling next week you will be saying “it’s only two games”…. and so on…. he IS as good as advertised, PERIOD.
