Big Red may have missed on this one pick and that's unfortunate, but at least he knew when to cut his losses instead of holding out hope for his pride's sake.

I think this year's draft is really going to turn the defense around for the Eagles. Fletcher Cox had a sack against the Browns and looked good throughout the entire game. Mychal Kendricks is an explosive sideline to sideline player that really fits well into the wide-9 scheme. Brandon Boykin is an explosive returner who can play some solid slot cornerback as well.

So yeah he missed on Jarret but this last draft really looks good so far give the guy a break.

Reid needs to take a year off, get himself together personally (family-wise), and then he'll get another HC job in two seconds. It's clearly obvious that he's just had a lot of distractions in recent years, and all of that is bound to affect anyone. Talent evaluation (players and coaches), on-field game day decisions, you need someone all invested.

It's not a knock in him. He's an above-average, competent HC. But he is not a GM, and any owner needs to recognize that. But he doesn't evaluate players well -- where's the comptent back up QB -- and aside from Jim Johnson, his selection of coaches is questionable, too. And there simply comes a time when a person needs a change of scenery.

I know he's lost weight but that bigger mustache disguises that, and that bleeds into a negative image of the guy in terms of how he motivates players to be conditioned. Which may answer why McNabb was so obviously overweight in his later years...

I would not blame him if he stepped down during the season - in fact, I'd strongly suggest it because it the death of a family member is serious business. And that has to come first.

It's about time Andy has started to own up to the personnel gaffes that have hurt his team so often. It IS on him to make it right.

In addition to those on the defensive side, there is his odd reluctance to draft or sign at least one big-bodied WR who can play (i.e., NOT Cooper) for redzone and 3d down purposes. For Baltimore, the only healthy WRs the Iggles have are DJax and DeMaris Johnson, neither of whom is more than 5'10'' or 185#. Who is afraid of the Eagles' receivers in close quarters? Their fans, maybe.

And speaking admitting mistakes; "Mike? Coach wants to see you...."

@cardiovascularendurance

That is a very impressive list of finishes in the NFC east for the Eagles vs. the Redskins finishes.

But at the end of the day finishing 1st in the NFC east is about as useful as finishing 4th if you can't get it done in the playoffs.

But you go on and keep counting them...but that won't fill up that trophy case...

If the Eagles fired Andy Reid, another team would hire him in less than 24 hours.

The Eagles fans need to look at Oakland and Cleveland and other teams who just go through coaches left and right.

For as “rough” and Philly is, that fan sure does have some spoiled fans that throw 8 year old tantrums about their coach.
________________________________________________

This is a typical comment from someone that only really knows about Andy Reid from what the national media says, because they just love him. 14 years of underachieving, 14 years of refusing to run the ball (really 56 passes from Vick?), 14 years of disgraceful clock management, 14 years of the same mistakes over and over and over and over and over again. Enough is enough, and it is time to take a chance on someone else. Sure, it could become a revolving door like Cleveland. Or, it could become a situation where someone like Harbaugh or Payton could come in here, look at the real talent on this roster, and use it properly. And finally, holding your coach accountable isn't akin to throwing a tantrum. Maybe your satisfied with 8-8 and first round losses, but we aren't.

Depends on which Cardinals team you're talking about. The 90s Cardinals look more like the Redskin, the 00s Cardinals are a little bit of both. Don't forget, the Cardinals somehow made it to the superbowl more recently than either Philly or Was (or Dal).

Im a philly fan… im not a huge Andy fan but i also realize that he’s good. Someone asked abput our GM being a bear counter…. yes…. he is. And even after adding guys like NNamdi, Babbin, DRC, Ryans, …. and giving guys like vick, shady and Djax new deals…. we still have more cap money than you do. There is no doubt that this team has its problems…. but they for sure know what they are doing over there. Insert superbowl jokes under here,.

________

Honestly, all of that sounds good, but I'd be willing to bet that even though you may have a good starting lineup and paid them accordingly. The fact that you have that much cap space left would indicate to me you have horrible depth behind them. I could be wrong but the fact that your cutting a 2nd round pick from last year already pretty much tells me that in at least one position I am right. Good teams are made of depth and can make it through December because of it. You said insert Super Bowl Jokes. Well I don't think I need to I think I've made my case as to why the Eagles haven't had success late in the year without making fun of them. I'm not sure they do "know what they're doing over there".

This is the frustrating thing with Philly defense. Ever since our main man Jim Johnson passed away, we haven't been able to identify defensive talent through the draft, and game plan consistently.

We have had 2 Defensive Coordinators that were first time defensive coordinators in their careers.

We seem to be only able to add talent to the defense through free agency... why?

The eagles drafted well on Offense, Maclin, Shady McCoy, D-Jax, Celek, Avant, Kelce, Herramens. But who on Defense? Trent Cole... the only proven draft pick.

Can't win super bowls wiffing out on high draft picks....

macwomak- since the 2002 restructuring, the skins have finished 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, 4th, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th, and 4th in the NFC East and have a record of 65-95. The Eagles are 99-60-1 with a bunch of 1st place finishes. So thanks for proving again how delusional skins fans are. It's you guys who have taken up the NFC East cellar since the Cards left the division.

@junkfooddaddy

No one should say the Redskins got the better end of the McNabb deal... but just list the picks and your point will have been made

When you start listing the players like Casey Mathews you hurt your argument.

Or you could say "we got Allen, and used the picks to help get Ryans, and we also got a scrub."

When you name Casey as one of your "gotchas" it just looks weak.

Reid's mistake is in the apology. The Pats have misfired on numerous high picks in the past five years because of the nature of the unknowns. As stated previously, it is a gamble. You just try your best using the info available and if you "reach" as some say, you have a right to do so given your position and experience. Philly has brought in good players on a consistant basis for years. The trick is to not limit your your search for talent in the draft alone. The small schools are placing a lot of solid talent in the league as free agents.
