Jags president says there will be no blackouts in 2012

The Jaguars opted not to take advantage of the new rule that allows teams to reduce their minimum ticket sales threshold from 100 percent of all non-premium seats to 85 percent.  Regardless of the total number of tickets that must be sold, the teams says that they all will be sold.

Team president Mark Lamping told WOKV on Wednesday (via SBNation.com) that there will be no local blackouts in 2012, and that it’s “not even part of the conversation.”

It’s unclear whether this means that all non-premium tickets have been sold, that all non-premium tickets will be sold, or that the team will ensure that all non-premium tickets are sold by purchasing any leftovers at 34 cents on the dollar.

Regardless, the good news for folks in Jacksonville is that all home games will be televised.  Then again, with the Texans coming to town on Sunday, that may not be good news.

Gabbert’s week 1 performance was a fluke. I got a hunch his skittish pocket presence will return this week.

If I were a Jag fans I’d drink til I blackout the entire Blaine Gabbert era.

That “improved” Jaguars team could easily be 0-5 at their bye week. The only team they could beat is the Colts. but it is in Indy.

  4. niubears says: Sep 12, 2012 9:49 PM

Lower level tickets for the Oct 7th game (Bears) are basically gone. Only single seats left. Only place you can get 4+ tickets together are the last couple rows of upper deck and the club seats. Granted, there will be a large majority of Bears fans there.

Jags should have no issues beating last year’s attendance numbers.

  5. ddogdaddy says: Sep 12, 2012 9:54 PM

I believe that all the Jag tickets will be sold. I also believe the following.
    1. There is a Santa.
2.Clinton did not have sex with that woman.
    3.OJ was framed
    4. The Democrats and the Republicans have found the 2 best people they could find to be our next President.

While the other Florida teams have chosen the 85% rule, the Jaguars are not having blackouts..I know, I know….tarps..but the good news is by choosing this option, the tarps can be removed if needed (not possible before). Currently with tarps the stadium capacity is 67,000+…if tarps removed 78,000+. So this must mean the Jags are moving to LA, right?

  7. mowerguyjags says: Sep 12, 2012 9:56 PM

    Do you guys ever stop?
    Who are your teams?
Thanks PFT for posting something positive.

  8. nyyjetsknicks says: Sep 12, 2012 9:58 PM

If fans can’t fill the stadium, move the team.

  9. ddogdaddy says: Sep 12, 2012 9:58 PM

Come on Jag fans. Try to find something positive about your team. Starting to feel bad for you guys. Nah, must have been gas. Go Blue.

  10. emma333 says: Sep 12, 2012 9:59 PM

correction to last post–the Jaguars are NOT using the 85% option as the other Florida teams.

It’s amazing how many “Jaguar Haters” always reply to anything said about the Jaguars. Newsflash: The Jaguars are on the rise, and real Jaguar fans are ALL IN! “Go Jags, beat the Texans!

    @voiceofreasonsays

If you were a Jags fan then many of their true fans would consider suicide to be a viable option as opposed to listening to the drivel that you produce day end and day out. Get out of the game fool.

The NFL needs to rid of these ancient unfriendly to the consumer rules. We all know the owners focus is on sky boxes and corps. The real fans are truly secondary.

I went to the bucs game didn’t see anyone using that wifi feature. They may want to take a hard look at the product on the field and the seats designed for a 5 foot 125lb person. How about charging less than $8 for a beer that costs you less than $1 to sell and the $5 soda that is about 50 cents. Parking $25. Really?

Time for NFL owners to get a reality check.

Every comment on here is a prediction based off nothing. I know Pft is the breeding ground of pointless predictions but the three of you numbskulls together is the holy trinity of stupid.

”Then again, with the Texans coming to town on Sunday, that may not be good news.”

Maybe. Then again, maybe we’ll just kick their ass.

I wonder what mf has against the jags, or does he have nothing else to post about. GO JAGS

  23. hardate says: Sep 12, 2012 10:48 PM

So unlike the other two Florida teams, we will NOT have a blackout, nor have what appears to be 28 geriatric New Yorkers in attendance, yet we still get the tarp cracks.

Sorry our stadium is larger than most of yours. Suck it.

Newsflash: The “on the rise Jaguars” still lost to an equally bad Vikings team. The only thing “on the rise” in Jax is the suicide rate on Sundays and the price of gas.

  27. ellyman says: Sep 12, 2012 11:10 PM

Dog daddy is a moron your sorry colts won two games last season and you have the nerve to talk about the Jags. We are going to kick your sorry butts in a few weeks

  28. granadafan says: Sep 12, 2012 11:36 PM

Not a Jags fan. The Jags get a lot of well-deserved grief for their bad team and the tarps. However, I’ll give the Jags props for trying to get “sell outs” and show games on TV instead of not giving a crap about fans unlike other teams like the Chargers, Raiders, Bucs, Rams, Dolphins, etc. Many other owners care more about money, holding cities hostage for new stadiums, blackouts, etc.

  29. monkeyhateclean says: Sep 12, 2012 11:51 PM

So, they are moving the team to LA in the middle of the season?

  30. jagfan8030 says: Sep 13, 2012 12:27 AM

All the lower seats are sold now.u can’t get more then 2 seats together. Call ticket master and see. Go jags. Let haters hate because even with the tarps we seat more ppl then alot of stadiums.

  31. ddogdaddy says: Sep 13, 2012 12:59 AM

    @ellyman

Grrrrr that a boy, flex up big fella. But your barking up the wrong tree. I got no beef with the Jags. We are both small market teams trying to get our piece of the pie. I just hate hearing your own fans talking crap about your team. Got stick up for the home team man. Here I will show you what I mean. See the problem that the Jags have always had is having to play the Mighty Colts twice a year as we are in the same division. Usually ending up Colts winning the division and every one else sucking the hind teet. See how I did that? Now run along and next time you give it a try. Grrrrrrr

  32. thegreatgabbert says: Sep 13, 2012 1:43 AM

greenspartan’s “hunch” is in his back. Plus his eyes don’t line up and his teeth go off at all different angles. I guess the mad scientist gave him the afternoon off and left the computer running in the basement lab.

  33. z561 says: Sep 13, 2012 2:21 AM

We have the whiniest fan base in the NFL. Who cares what the media says about us? At least Florio tells it how it is, unlike TSPN.

  34. joetoronto says: Sep 13, 2012 5:05 AM

Team president Mark Lamping told WOKV on Wednesday (via SBNation.com) that there will be no local blackouts in 2012, and that it’s “not even part of the conversation, we have found a single tarp so big, it covers the whole stadium.”

“We’ll never have that problem again!”

  35. jagsfan11 says: Sep 13, 2012 8:16 AM

Yeah, we might be 0-5, but that dosent mean well get crushed. We could see amazing improvement in the whole offense including Gabbert, but we might win only 6 games. Im very confident that we may win 7 or 8 games if our defense could just stay consistent.

  36. jagsfan11 says: Sep 13, 2012 8:18 AM

Ddogdaddy, are u a Colts fan?

  37. jagsfan11 says: Sep 13, 2012 8:21 AM

Ok he is? Gabbert has showed way more promise so far than Luck this year. We have a better running game than the Colts. We have a better Defense. The only argument you have against us is attendance and that is about to be gone.

  38. wmthomas3 says: Sep 13, 2012 9:08 AM

Jaguars again have not problem with tickets. This is no longer a story. Gabbert is better than people think and we Jags fans could care less what the lonely people who have nothing better to do than to post stupid comments against or organization.
We are happy with the direction our team is going, not all NFL fans can say that about their team.

  39. niubears says: Sep 13, 2012 9:36 AM

By the way, Khan did a genius thing by hiring Mark Lamping. Very smart move.

  40. purpleguy says: Sep 13, 2012 10:17 AM

I suspect it’s not too hard to sell tickets in the upper deck if they just lower the prices, and who can give them grief about tarps that reduce seating capacity to that of a typical NFL stadium? Having said all that, there shouldn’t be 3 teams in FLA, particularly if all 3 teams are having a hard time selling tickets.

  41. ellyman says: Sep 13, 2012 10:19 AM

    Ddogdaddy

Are the Colts still piping in stadium crowd noise?
Have fun supporting that 1-15 team

  42. JasonW in Miami says: Sep 13, 2012 10:51 AM

The Jags will probably use the London money to offset the cost of purchasing the remaining tickets….

  43. z561 says: Sep 13, 2012 12:51 PM

^ A Dolphins fan talking smack about attendance? Now I’ve seen it all…

  44. ddogdaddy says: Sep 15, 2012 11:34 AM

Yes I am a Colts fan. Yes I will be supporting my team regardless of their record because I kmow they have a plan. A winning plan as you already know from being in our division. My advice to Jag fans would be to support your team NOW because once they leave and they will leave, Jacksonville will be known as the city that gave up on their team. What’s that say about the city? I hope it doesn’t happen because I have enjoyed coming down there for Colts/Jags game. Good Luck.
