Maurice Jones-Drew might not be the starter in Jacksonville quite yet.
Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey said an MRI on running back Rashad Jennings’ knee did not show significant damage, and he wasn’t ready to rule him out of this week’s game against the Texans, according ot Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.
Mularkey said Monday that both Jennings and right tackle Cameron Bradfield could miss a few weeks, but had a more optimistic take Wednesday.
“[The MRIs] just confirmed that they’re not prolonged injuries,” Mularkey said. “We’re going to monitor them day to day and hold them out today. But they’re not out of the game as of yet.”
Jennings held onto the starting job after Jones-Drew’s holdout, but Jones-Drew finished the game after Jennings was hurt in the first half.
While the league’s leading rusher from last year should reclaim the job anyway, Jennings’ status could push him up the depth chart sooner than anticipated.
