APWell, that didn’t take long.
This summer, Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora said he wasn’t referring to Robert Griffin III by his initials and number until he earned it.
“Who is this RG3 guy you guys keep talking about?’’ Umenyiora said on WFAN. “You talking about Bob Griffin? You guys are giving him a cool nickname already and everything.
“When he does anything in the NFL we’re gonna call him RG3. Right now he’s Bob Griffin.”
Apparently one week was enough.
“Oh, um, RG3?” Umenyiora told USA Today’s Mike Garafolo. “What is he? What does he like to be called? What does he want me to call him?”
The artist formerly known as “Bob” threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Redskins to an upset at New Orleans, earning him NFC offensive player of the week honors.
And apparently, a little respect.

Isn’t it about time Osi starts complaining about his contract? I mean, he’s had it for like 3 months now!
If the Skins perform against the Giants like they did last year, it might be Sir RG3 by Christmas.
When asked about the defensive end who wears # 72 for the Giants Bob Griffin replied, “You mean Ositadimma?”
Osi who??????
Back to Ositadimma for you!
That’s right. RGIII is already making the Giants franchise and fanbase humble and making them show Respect to pure greatness that is Robert Griffin…and we’ll still sweep the Giants while making John Mara, David Wilson and Co. cry like they’ve never cried before.
well that changes my t-shirt for the Redskins Giants game…
It was gonna say:
“Ositadimma – We’ll call you Osi when you get around to beating the Redskins”
Osi needs to stop worrying about what to call RG3 and start earning his paycheck. He and Tuck were nowhere to be found last Thursday.

Wait, isn’t that what he did from 2003-2010. Twice. Annually? A blip on the radar and you kooks begin and end everything related to the Giants with this nonsense these days?
The giants are soft and bobby will have his softness exposed very soon too!
Does Osi have a name for Lesean McCoy??
Mad props to RG3 for lighting it up last week, and I know you Redskins fans LOVE to completely overreact whenever something finally goes right for your team, but lets not put this guy in Canton yet.
From a Giants fan, he looked very impressive, and I’m looking forward to seeing him play.
As a Cowboys fan i respect RG3… And i respect the Redskins, i think this season we may all take them seriously.
Bob Griffin sounds better.
@Mr. Wright 212
well your “facts” are a little skewed … since it was really more like 08-10 but most Giants fans have a revisionists sense of history.
but lets live in the present shall we… I mean if you want to back in time I could go all the way back to the 80s if you want to entertain such a discussion….or we could look up how badly Sammy Baugh owned the Giants.
All I am saying is the Giants didn’t get their latest Super Bowl by beating the Redskins.
He still hasn’t done anything?
no reason for hate in these comments.. he wasn’t out of line when he called him bob, and he is complimenting RGIII on his game.
i think it reads pretty funny in text form, and im sure it was even more funny hearing him say it.
@Mr. Wright 212
wait a minute you misrepresent the Giants record and redskins fans are the ones doing “nonsense”?
Next thing you will claim is that Mara’s stupidity isn’t the cause of a multi-billion dollar anti-collusion lawsuit.
It’s 1 game the saints defense sucks it always has. Ryan Leaf had a couple of promising games when he came out as well & look at where he’s at now? I’m not saying he won’t be good, all I’m saying is lets see how he does in a couple more games before we start calling him a franchise QB

Says the guy who probably wasn’t alive the last time the Redskins last won anything.
Osi? Oh, you mean the giants 2nd string defensive end?
how about Osi Nowherenearya, BOOM!
Redskin fans are are making Rex Ryan look humble with all these insane comments they keep making.
espn overreacting again after one game, I hope rg3 does great, but it’s just espn desperately looking for that next young hip qb they can market and bank from, did it to cam after one game and now look at him, overrated turnover machine that can’t win, he now has 22 td passes and 19 int in his career with 6 wins in 17 games, overrated. good luck rg3, don’t give in to the hype and just pay your game.
@jerseyshoregiant
only 5 years?
since you are living in the past why not go all the way back…oh allow me to help you
New York Giants lead series 92-64-4
I hope your sweet memories keep you warm at night.
I don’t think Redskins understand there are still 15 more games in the regular season. Not to mention they have to play the afc north in which the entire division had a top ten defense apiece last year. Let um get thru Christmas healthy before you start running your mouth and look like a fool. I hope he does well myself but some of the stuff i’ve heard and read is just stupid. Good week 1 now move on…

I like the name Bob. It’s easy to spell. That’s important to me.
Finally getting the respect he deserves. I still call him Bob when we pillow-talk though…
I thought Osi was funny as hell with that whole bit. That’s why I call him BobGIII!!!!
What will we call him when he plays like Peter Griffin III?
’bout time Osi shut up. Thanks for shutting him up, RG3.
Not a fan of either team, but one game does not a career make. Redskin fans can talk crap all they want, but only one team is the defending Super Bowl champs. The kid looks good, but don’t crown him yet.

Nobody is trying to put him in Canton. The only hall of fame talk has been rhetorical BS from fans of DC’s opponents who keep accusing Redskins fans of overreacting to our rookie QB, for whom we traded an arm and a leg, winning NFC Offensive Player of the Week in his very first pro game ever. It’s a great achievement, we’re celebrating. Not one of us (except maybe that doofus voiceofreason) is trying to enshrine him.
So knock it off.
Love how the skins 2 wins last year over Nyg was there superbowl. As if anybody is going to remember it 10years from now. For such a proud franchise its sad, kinda like voiceofreason representing them on PFT.
Nicknames aren’t the result of talent or skill, they’re either the result of the opportunity (like RG3) or necessity (like Big Ben).
As Bill Parcells said “put away the anointing oil”. Bob had a great start but the aints didn’t put any pressure on him and hardly put up any kind of challenge. Wait until he plays the Ravens or has Ware breathing down his neck, THEN we’ll get an indication of what type of player Bob is.

Really? Rg3 is two spoken letters and a number, it literally spells itself. That’s like having trouble spelling WD40.
RG3 will come an go, he’s just a fad.
I see human urine. That’s your new name
Skins fans are funny . Yes they swept the Giants last year . The Giants swept the three years prior too that though . All time series 91-64-4 in favor of the Giants . And even with that sweep last year who was left standing in the end ?
newsflash bammafied giants and cowgirls fans – kiss arse all you want, but rgIII is going to light you suckas up. but win or lose against you fools, i hope he saves his best for philly and their dog killing QB and their walrus coach who snookered the skins with trotter and mcnabb.
Who is this Osi Human-Urine? Is he the player formerly known as a football player who now plays like a pile of dog feces?
Osi needs to remember that his team was beaten TWICE BY DOUBLE DIGITS by a Redskin team without all this year’s upgrades.
Perhaps he should go easy on Bob. You wouldn’t want Bob to fake Osi out of his jock on the way for a touchdown.
@laserw – i’ll give the giants some props – they were ROCKED by REX F’ING GROSSMAN yet they still won the SB. Good for them. Then Mara’s scared arse tried to cripple the Skins this year AND next. Sorry, not gonna work this time bro.

He was being lighthearted as hell when he was here in NY on WFAN. He wasn’t even trying to be disrespectful. It was hilarious to listen to him talk to Joe and Evan that day. Just as funny as it is reading it in print, trust me.
In Cantonese, “O-Si” literally means to defecate… Seriously
Who cares what Osi thinks… he’s not an elite player by any means. If he didn’t play in New York he’d be just some avg player.
Remove foot from mouth…lls
shaunypoo
We are not talking about RG3s one win as much as we are talking about the SuperBowl Giants 2 losses…last year to the Redskins… since you seem confused.
Here in NOVA it does get a little annoying listening to comentators say Robert Griffin the Third. Say it, that’s a long name. I don’t mind RG3 it’s shorter. I’ll just call him Griffin. And now what’s w/ Helu Jr. last year it was only Helu. What is this Game of Thrones? I’m the 5th name taken from the son of blah blah.
Denny Green says he is who we thought he was.
Listen to these fools talking about Osi has been nowhere to be found.
Is that because you turned the playoff games off, and boycotted the Superbowl, because your team wasn’t in the hunt, AGAIN?
Go buy the Giants road to the Superbowl and educate yourselves. Then go cry.
I wonder what it must’ve been like to watch the Giants win the Superbowl twice in the last 5 years as a Redskin fan.
Does that make you bigger choke artists than the Eagles?
LOSERS.
@macwomack
A few things…
1) “All I am saying is the Giants didn’t get their latest Super Bowl by beating the Redskins.” – This is true, but only because that would require the Redskins and Giants meeting in the NFC Championship game, which requires MAKING the playoffs.
2) As an extension of that – If we flip that quote a bit, you’ll realize that bragging about how “they didn’t go through us” when you finished last in your division is kind of ridiculous. Great, you won those games fair and square, but where did it get you, other than near the top of the draft?
3) You also responded to another poster talking about the Giants’ record against the ‘skins. Really? Only ’08-’10? I believe that poster was covering the time frame Osi has been involved (since ’03), which is pertinent. In that time, the series is 12-6 in favor or NY. There obviously were stretches where the Redskins dominated the G-men, but alltime the Giants are about 25-30 games above .500 against the ‘skins.
4) RGIII looks good and I’m not excited about the prospect of him being in the division for the next decade+, but don’t get ahead of yourself.
Osi Umenyiora: Smarter than Jay Cutler… lol.
I guess teams will finally stop loading the box against the Skins now & they can finally play some real football.

Exactly what I was saying when I brought up 2003-2010, but then again, can you really have a rational discussion with these delusional Redskins fans whose brains have been turned to swiss cheese due to moldly conditions in the basement SMH.

How is a TEAM a choke artist? You are implying that every player chokes on that team. Last time I checked McNabb was the QB for the Eagles and was the choker… if the QB chokes the game falls apart… So you are literally a dumb person with nohopeleft (ahh used the screen name). What a dolt!
