Antonio Bryant arrested for assault

Seahawks Camp Football AP

Former NFL receiver Antonio Bryant got a couple of opportunities in the offseason to latch on with the Seahawks.  In hindsight, the Seahawks undoubtedly believe they made the right decision.

Bryant was arrested Tuesday for allegedly strangling the mother of his child.

The incident allegedly occurred in April, with Bryant allegedly pushing the woman in the face, putting his hands around her neck while she was holding the child, and then continuing to kick and punch her.

Per TMZ, Bryant was charged with domestic battery by strangulation, domestic violence, and culpable negligence.

Bryant, 31, has played for the Cowboys, Browns, 49ers, Buccaneers, and (briefly) the Bengals.

Most importantly, the fact that he’s not currently employed by an NFL team doesn’t re-set the “Days without an Arrest” meter from it’s all-time high of 35 down to zero.

Time to reset the arrest meter then. It still says 35 days. That was a pretty impressive run while it lasted. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it go that high before.

Wasnt employed by any team at the time. Will not reset meter. Sad justification, but valid none the less.

Wait, he’s not actually an NFL Pplayrr right now.

How about we leave the meter at 35 until an actual player resets it?

Sad thing is THIS doesn’t surprise me! He’s been a loose emotional cannon for a while. The only real surprise is that it didn’t happen sooner! IJS…

This guy has has anger management issues for a long time. Does anyone remember when he threw a worn practice jersey in Parcells face in Dallas? Now he’s beating up women. Real tough guy getting rough with old men & females.

All time high of 35? You know you guys have missed something somewhere right?

Might want to start scouring the police blotters across the nation.

Ain’t no way all them brothers can stay out of jail for that long…it’s frickin’ impossible.

Reading is fundamental. Bryant isn’t on an NFL contract, no reset of the arrest meter, is forthcoming.

It was right for the Seahawks to give him a couple of opportunities? Why?

Aging wide receivers who happen to allegedly strangle important women in their lives.

First is Chad Johnson and now it’s this guy.

    This is very troubling.

What position did he play? WR? Ohhhh, shocker!!!!

  23. billgatesbarber says: Sep 15, 2012 8:03 PM

If by briefly playing you mean being cut with an injury settlement before ever wearing the uniform then, yes, I guess he played for the Bengals.

  24. walletweb says: Sep 16, 2012 12:44 AM

wasn’t Florio going to wear a bikni top and hulu skirt or something on Sunday night football if the arrest meter ever made it to 30 days?

He’s a true turd and a natural Bengal.
