Getty ImagesThe Miami Dolphins are having a hard time getting fans to show up for home games. Those who choose to show up on Sunday will be in for a treat.
The Dolphins will be giving out free throwback hats with the team’s original logo and “Still Perfect” on the back, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the 17-0 season of 1972. The hats will be distributed at the various gates to Sun Life Stadium, with former Dolphins like Hall of Famer Bob Griese doing the honors.
Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post has the full list of who will be at which gate. In all, 27 former players will be there.
The current Dolphins could probably use a few of them when it’s time to play the Raiders.

Here’s how bad I feel for the Dolphins. I could go to Miami, win the halftime Field Goal contest 10 out of 10 times and would refuse to take the cash prize because they would need it more to help that god awful product on the field in Miami.

Why the slogan “Still Perfect”?

Maybe a better slogan would be: “Still Insecure About Our Place in History.”
The raiders are coming from playing a bad Monday night game to an early east coast game. If the dolphins want to shed any hope on this season, this would be their opportunity.
I would take them to win if they weren’t so horrible.

Make all of the Dolphins legends kick a 60 yard FG attempt in order to gain access to the field for the honors. What’s fair is fair.

Yeah keep hating on the Phins, but they still have done something the other teams has ever done. Even the butthurt Pats couldn’t do it. Go undefeated. The Phins will be more than 30 million under cap and a load of draft picks for next season. So keep hating they will be back.
Some of these guys didn’t even play on that team. One, Jed Weaver, wasn’t even born when that team played and then only played three seasons with the Fins. How does that make him a legend? Sounds like management is really stretching.
Its too damn hot. The forecast is for temperatures in the 90′s at game time. Combine that with a lousy team, early afternoon kickoff , a horrible stadium and not to mention disingenuous management is a recipe for another disastrous afternoon.
I can’t stand when people down play the significance of history. Only because its the Dolphins some act like its no big deal. If it was their favorite team it would be ok though right? Get the kucf outta here. Nothing wrong with having pride for accomplishments. GO PHINS!
It figures since the only ones happy with the 2012 Dolphins are the ’72 Dolphins because all they care about is maintaing their perfect season record.

I am not a throwball fan, let alone a dolphin fan, but It’s funny when you ask anyone in miami if they are a dolphin fan and their typical response is “Yes, UNFORTUNATELY”.
