A good leader is discovered when times are tough. Cutler has proven he’s not that man. As for “darthparmele’s” comment, Adewale Ogunleye would have intimate knowledge of leadership in the NFL. Cutler’s got every physical tool needed to be great in the NFL, however, his issue is from the neck up. End of story.

I am impressed by all of the “fans” that have so much intimate knowledge of Jay leadership. I mean reading a few articles from his Denver day, and watching how he sits on the sideline makes you experts on the subject. I have yet to see Webb or any other current team mate complain. Let’s just focus on some new blocking schemes and play to work with what we have. Clearly, given a little time, our offense can put up points. And frankly the lions and packers are not as good as they think so let’s Bear down and support our team.

Ok I think I’ve got it. When a-rod yells at James Jones for not coming back to the ball hard enough when he gets picked its leadership, when cutler yells at his guy for not blocking anybody hes a whiner.

When you look up double-standard in the dictionary there’s a face of Cutler. So every other QB can yell and try to correct their teammates, but he can’t. Um, that’s all part of being a good leader. Grant it, he’s not one to endear himself to the media, but that’s why you show only weird, awkward pictures of him. There are plenty of pics with him smiling, but again, you won’t show them. He certainly should be more conservative with the ball when they’re down, but does it really matter much how you lose? Probably, but he shouldn’t be demonized by everyone in the media for it.

I seem to be interpreting Ogunleye’s reference to Peyton and Brady differently than most. Ogunleye wasn’t claiming those guys have NEVER snapped at their teammates or that they’re always beaming from ear to ear—simply that Peyton and Tom also have their share of times when they’re nice, pleasant guys to be around, while Jay is a perpetually petulant, unlikable jerk. It’s not Jay doesn’t have a right to sulk or even scream while being treated like an on-field pinata; it’s that he’s ALWAYS a nasty guy who, unlike Peyton and Brady, doesn’t ever do anything to command the respect or fondness of their teammates. In other words, there’s no Good Jay to compensate for Bad Jay. And, frankly, the comparison is moot anyway—-like them or hate them, Peyton and Brady have already accomplished so much more in this game than Jay ever has. His attitude isn’t doing much to help him get there.

As a bears fan these articles are becoming more annoying. He says every1 only sees cutler when he’s pissed off. His team mates see both sides. If you watch cutler when he’s wired for sound he’s always on the side line cracking jokes and making ppl laugh. He’s a great team leader and I have no issue with him gettin on Webb the way he was playing. Only thing is he does need to take some blame cus some plays he held the ball too long or made a bad throw but when u gettin hit every play who wouldn’t do that. Oh yea and it’s only week 2 so I’m not worried at all. Jay is a great qb b the end of the season every1 will see. Mark my words

I’m sorry but if I was sacked 7 times 3 of which I had Clay Mathews doing the diarrhea squat by my head I’d be doing more than yelling at that 300 lb moron J Webb. Cutler has his faults and deserves his fair share of blame but that line is hideous at best. Finally we get emotion from the emotionless Cutler and now people are upset by that too. This is a non story, and Lovie and Emery should make a trade, yesterday, for a real starting Left Tackle. Or at least a passable one.

I am definately NOT a Jay Cutler fan. But he’s getting crucified for doing the same thing that Brady and Peyton Manning have done in the past. Any quarterback who gets sacked 7 times in 1 game would have a melt-down, especially if one of their offensive linemen was LAUGHING on the sideline. I hope Cutler saved some of that anger for his offensive coordinator, who didn’t make any adjustments. And for the Bears GM and head coach who didn’t do anything to improve that offensive O-Line.
I love it how people call Cutler a cry-baby….let’s see how YOU would do if you got sacked 7 times by a NFL linebacker or defensive end. You would be curled up in the fetal position crying for your mommy by the 3rd sack. So quit talking smack from the comfort of your couch about what Cutler should or should not have done.

The problem isn’t that Cutler lost it one time with one lineman. The problem is that Cutler is almost always a jerk no matter who he’s talking to. He takes little responsibility for things going wrong but can always tell you about someone else’s screw up. Yes, you can find video of Brady and the Mannings losing it, but you can also find TONS of video of those guys being good leaders. If I were sent to find video of Cutler being a good leader I’d want to be paid by the hour not by the pound.

What’s moronic is people excusing Cutler’s play due to being sacked. Aaron Rodgers, several levels above Jay with essentially the same sack numbers since Jay got to Chicago.

Facts are facts – Jay loses because of his QB skill, not because he gets sacked.

If you were sacked 7 times, you wouldn’t put on a smiley face neither. If he was laughing and joking on the sideline with those stats, you wouldn’t hear the last of it from the media. It’s funny because when it was brady talking about how he needs to do better to avoid hits, the analysts defended him saying his o line is awful. Goes to show you whose protected in this league, theres no way brady or manning get sacked and hit that many times without constellation.

I’ve never understood why Cutler get’s so much press attention. Forget top 10, there is a good number of QBs I would rather have than Cutler.

Brady, Rogers, Brees, Ryan, Flacco, RGIII, Luck, Manning 1 & 2, Smith, Schaub, Rivers, Stafford, Newton, Romo to name 15

Sure he can sling a ball, but it takes more than that to be a leader. His sideline demeanor illustrates a person who does not COMMAND ones attention. Instead he tries to demand it, and that’s why his team doesn’t respond.

I don’t know if he is a leader or not, but I’m having a difficult time with this discussion because:

Cutler almost gets killed every time he drops back so he yells at a lineman – labeled not a leader

Rodgers in the same game berates one of his WR’s for making him look bad and throw 1 pick, he is referred to as someone taking charge of the situation and a good leader?

I’m not a fan of either team, but feel neither QB played great, both lines looked horrible, both QB’s overreacted to the situation, but one is crowned a leader, and one a cancer. IDK Jay was just a great leader last week, and is clearly the best QB in Chicago so let’s see what the rest of the season brings.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone. Cutler’s a certifiable loser.

He sits out a game with the Super Bowl on the line, a game he could have easily toughed it out. Guys have toughed out a lot more substantial injuries in games of a lot less consequence. Yelling at Webb like that is just unacceptable. I don’t care how bad he’s playing. You leave that to the o-line coach.

Guy isn’t a leader and he’s easily rattled.

Bears need to cut ties after the year.

Manning, Brady, and Rivers are the first three that pop in my head when I recall instances of QBs chewing out their O-Lineman. Manning on Jeff Saturday’s ass was one of the most infamous situations. I can’t count how many times Rivers bitches and bitches season after season. There’s definitely a hypocrisy going on here in regard to Cutler. When the others aforementioned have done it or do it; its “leadership” and being a “fierce competitor.” When Cutler does it, its all of this. Seriously, let those guys get knocked around as much as Cutler and see how “cool” they keep it. I’m not even a Bears or Cutler fan, but cmon, let’s keep it real here.
