Cut by the Dolphins after a trade to the Redskins fell through and unwanted by the Redskins once he became available as a free agent, running back Steve Slaton has drawn interest from half of the teams in the NFC North.
A tryout with the Bears didn’t result in a new deal; they re-signed Kahlil Bell instead. This week, Slaton will get a tire-kicking from the Lions, according to CBSSports.com (via NFL.com).
Slaton had a strong rookie season with the Texans in 2008, but fumbles eventually got him benched and the rise of Arian Foster eventually got him dumped. The Dolphins dumped him in the final roster cuts after a swap for receiver Anthony Armstrong on cut day fell through.
