You can call it a passing league if you want, but the Texans used a formula from bygone days to thrash the Jaguars.

Arian Foster and Ben Tate combined for 40 rushing attempts for 184 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Texans to a 27-7 road win.

They also played suffocating defense, holding the Jaguars to negative passing yards in the first half and just 117 total yards for the day.

Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert left the game late with a leg injury, the extent of which is not known. But he was an ugly 7-of-19 for 53 yards and a touchdown before yielding to backup Chad Henne.

Running back Maurice Jones-Drew had his moments in his first start after his holdout (Rashad Jennings was inactive with a knee problem), with 12 carries for 60 yards. But the Jags were so ineffective passing, thanks to the Texans swarming pass defense, that the Jags run game was kind of a moot point.
