Andre Carter going to see the Raiders again

Andre Carter, Vince Wilfork AP

The Raiders didn’t see fit to sign pass-rusher Andre Carter when they worked him out last month, largely because he wasn’t fit.

But he’s going back today for another look.

Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com reports that Carter will visit today, and that the Patriots are still “monitoring him closely.”

Unlike some old receivers fans get fascinated with, there’s a reason to think teams are interested in Carter, who has also worked out for the Rams and Cardinals in the last month.

He had 10 sacks for the Patriots in 14 games last year, before a torn quad that required surgery. If the Raiders brought him back a month after his first look, they must be thinking he’s close.

The Raiders would never make a mistake with talent evaluation.

Too bad crypt keeper isn’t around to have offered new England an other 1st rounder…oh wait they don’t have any of those either lmao

I think Reggie is a pretty strait shooter. Probably made an offer before, but said go see what other’s offer you can get. Maybe Andre just really wants to come back home and play in the bay, and is willing to take a little bit less to do so.

Fact is DE is the least of our needs right now. Whose going to play DB now that we have lost both of our starting corners to injuries. Losing Spencer is a huge blow, esp after losing Bartells……..sorry but cutting DVD was a HUGE mistake…..Pat Lee, and Hansen played way to loose on the edges, and 10 yards off of the receiver at line of scrimmage. They made dolphins wr Brian Hartline look like a pro bowler.

If Allen is a great coach who knows how to coach the secondary…….then time to show it. If not Ben will pick us apart Sunday.

Actually ,you twit, Raiders have a 1st round pick next draft. Too bad you’re too stupid to even spell your name right.

Desperate times call for desperate moves. Week 3 and the Raiders are done!

I think the idea with Carter is to generate enough pass rush to protect the DB’s. No matter which way you slice it, losing both starting CB’s is a big blow. The guys on the roster have to pick it up.

I don’t care who the Raiders sign as long as it helps the team and he knows how to tackle. Maybe this week will be a whole class on how to tackle someone carrying the ball. I thought at least they’d be able to beat the fins. What an embarassment. Still a die hard Raider fan!!!!!

Im all for signing him, We need more pass rush then just Shaughnessy and Kelly.

This is what I find puzzling, villa.

What’s up with the lack of a pass rush?

Belichick is as ruthless as anyone in the business. If Carter wants to make more money while playing for a crappy team he’ll go to the Raiders. If he wants to make less money while playing for a championship-go-to-the-playoffs-just-about-every-year team he’ll sign with the Pats.

But Belichick will not give him as much as the Raiders will – it just won’t happen.

This will help with the corners, football guys understand what i’m talking about.

joetoronto: I don’t necessarily know if the pass-rush is actually all that horrible. While they only recorded a single sack against Rivers, they did keep the pressure on for most of the game. Rivers really only had a few solid chances to stretch the field. The rest of the time it was short check-down plays.

What killed the pass rush against Miami, was just the fluke big run plays from Bush. That forced them to honor the run a more, so they couldn’t come as hard against Tallyhoo, or whatever his name is.

It’s still the offense that’s killing Oakland. They can’t put any points on the board, so the defense is stuck on the field for too long. If they can get a few touchdowns early in a game, I bet that pass rush will look a whole bunch better all of a sudden.

the way new englands blocking they better scoop him up because they are going to need that defense to apply pressure like the 00 ravens

so for us non football guys , then you are saying Shaunessy, and Houston are no good, going out this off season and signing Dave Toleffson, drafting Jack Crawford, and signing Bear, and Meatoga to the practice squads were mistakes, and can’t bring pressure. Now I know why the cornerbacks are playing 5 to 10 yards off the receivers and playing so loose and soft coverage. Thanks for the clarity. For a minute there i would have sworn are front four was one of our strengths.

Please for us non football guys explain why the offense sucks, and why we are doing so much east west stuff and not any north south stuff. I would love to get clarity on that as well.

Hey Raiders… Remind me, who’s #1 in the division?

    And who’s last…?

  18. psychoraider904 says: Sep 18, 2012 7:17 PM

    @1historian

What makes you think the Raiders are in a position to give him more money than the Pats or anybody else for that matter? We at the bottom of the league in terms of cap space.

Instead of trying to bash the Raiders, maybe you should do a little research before you post a comment next time so you don’t sound like such an idiot.

Untill the Chargers acutally do something in the playoffs, I wouldn’t run my mouth to much. Yeah, they’re in first place right now, two whole games into the season.

Hey, remind me how many Super Bowls the Chargers have won?

    And who has three?

Yeah, we are in awe of your team’s early season dominance. Your underwhelming coach has gone 2-0 for the first time in his career, and your team has slayed the mighty Raiders and Titans. I would not be at all surprised if the remaining teams on San Diego’s schedule just forfeit.

  21. natelan69 says: Sep 18, 2012 7:29 PM

    @psychoraider904

The last time the Raiders won anything was before I was born. But cool story bro! I like the History Channel too!

    #1 Chargers !!!

  22. nmrdr795 says: Sep 18, 2012 8:28 PM

They should worry about signing a te or a cb instead

No surprise there, given the awesome “69” in your name. I’m sure the other junior high kids think you’re very edgy to put that in there.

But hey, when you really have nothing in your history, 2-0 is as good as anything else, right?

  24. junior559 says: Sep 18, 2012 9:21 PM

If he can help rush the passer then sign him up and natelan69 shut up you dumb bolts fan there just gonna crumble and fall at the end of the season you dont know anything raiders have more superbowls and guess who leads the series between raiders and chargers not your game team now like all charger fans get back on your knees
