APChad Johnson has always had a knack for getting people to pay attention to him and he did it again via Twitter early on Tuesday morning.
It’s not the part about being up too late that’s grabbed eyeballs. It’s the part about the destination.

Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) September 18, 2012Tuesday happens to be the day that NFL teams traditionally bring in players for tryouts, which means that Johnson’s tweet caught the eye of some folks at Philly.com who thought that the trip might have something to do with the Eagles. Jeremy Maclin is still being bothered by a hip injury, DeSean Jackson missed practice last week with a hamstring injury and Riley Cooper has been out with a broken collarbone, which could mean they are in the market for help at receiver and taking a look at Johnson.
It could also mean that Johnson has a hankering to see where Trading Places was set or some other reason for being in Philly, so no one should be jumping to any grand conclusions based off a tweet. A tweet on Monday from Johnson to Skip Bayless of ESPN said that he was taking a year off to “work on me,” which seems like a good idea given the ugly incident with his wife that precipitated his departure from the Dolphins.
We’ll keep you posted should any other information come to light about Johnson’s latest voyage.

It’s a lot easier to “work on me” if you have some money, so 1 or 2 more years of playing would probably be helfpul.

Just put Riley Cooper on the darn IR. He wasnt that good to begin with. If Chad can come in and catch 3 balls per game for the next 3-4 games, it would do us a world of good with our depleted receiver corps.

Well, T.O. looked awful in pre-season, Deion Branch never accomplished anything outside of New England, and Jabar Gaffney is recovering from a leg injury he sustained in the offseason.
Chad Johnson is not a Pro Bowler anymore, but he’s healthy and will work for cheap.

If life has taught me anything, it’s to always err on the side of things involving Trading Places.
Even if they sign him, Philly has a long way to go to be a good team. The refs gave them a win over Baltimore, and they narrowly beat one of the worst teams in the league.
Chad has family in Philly. Hes not here for the football.

It’s cool that he may make a roster that needs WR help, but I think he is foolish to post it on Twitter. That is one of the reasons he is not on a team already. Even as a Cowboys fan, I sincerely hope he is able to play and play well. I think he was railroaded in the incident with his ex-wife. Even on the trashy show BB wives – she said that he could find other women if A) He wore condoms and B)She would let her know. They had women already in their relationship. She is a nut, he just tries to hard to be funny. Stick to football Johnson.
Part of what’s happened to Chad is the same as happens to other many aging receivers (T.O. etc. ) – they’ve lost their connection to the
ball itself. With that you get drops that wouldn’t have occurred earlier in their careers.
Of course with Johnson poor route running and not learning the playbook compounds any chance with a new team. Did he have that problem at Cincy too, or did he just fall into a system that fit his talent and work habits? Carson Palmer could clear this up.
The man just really wants an authentic cheesesteak at Geno’s and a cold Yungling.
