Niners need to get more out of Moss

Randy Moss made be a starting receiver in San Francisco, but he’s still waiting to get reps like one.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com recently pointed out that Moss was the No. 4 wideout on Sunday night against the Lions, with only 16 reps. Maiocco said Moss simply isn’t better than the other receivers, with both Mario Manningham and Kyle Williams getting more work ahead of Moss because they’ve earned it.

Coach Jim Harbaugh says Moss isn’t miffed, but we’ll defer to Moss on that -- if Moss would ever talk and he likely won’t.

With Moss making his return to the Metrodome for the first time as a member of the opposition, Tony Dungy thinks Harbaugh will finally unleash the man once known as “the Freak.” If Harbaugh continues to keep Moss on ice, it’s hard not to wonder whether he’ll mentally disengage.

Here’s more from Maiocco on the Niners, including the team’s travel plans for back-to-back road games that begin at 10:00 a.m. local time.
