The f--king soldier is now a freaking Patriot.

Tight end Kellen Winslow, who was cut before the start of the season by the Seahawks, has signed with the Patriots, according to a league source. It’s a one-year deal.

Though a verbal understanding was in place when Winslow returned to Foxboro two weeks after failing a physical, he needed to pass the physical this time -- and he did.

He will fill the void created by an ankle injury to tight end Aaron Hernandez. We’ve reported that he’ll miss up to six weeks.

With Visanthe Shiancoe on injured reserve (via the “designated for return” category), the Pats needed a complement for Rob Gronkowski.

Winslow has played for the Browns and Buccaneers. He complained loudly about Bucs coach Greg Schiano after a trade that sent Winslow to Seattle. “Real sh-t? Real sh-t?” Winslow said. “Greg Schiano came over there [and said], ‘Toes on the line! Toes on the line!’ Blowing the whistle. You can’t laugh. You can’t joke around. So I decided not to go to OTAs.”

Schiano, coincidentally, is a friend of Pats coach Bill Belichick. Hopefully, Belichick won’t be calling for any toes to be on any lines.
