APIt looks like the Jets will have Darrelle Revis back on the field this week.
Coach Rex Ryan started his Wednesday media session by announcing that Revis has been cleared for full contact and that he would be practicing fully on Thursday for the first time since suffering a concussion in Week One against the Bills. Assuming there isn’t any setback in the next two days, it’s a good bet that Revis will be lining up opposite the Dolphins on Sunday.
“There’s only one Darrelle Revis. It’s hard not to smile when he’s out there,” Ryan said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
We’re guessing that Joe Philbin, Ryan Tannehill and Brian Hartline are a little less enthused by the news.
Revis was able to return to physical activity last week, but never got the green light from the doctors tasked with administering the post-concussion tests that players must pass before they can resume doing everything on the football field. The fact that he’s been able to get some work in over the last week should mean that Revis is able to make a quick tranistion back to the starting defense, which missed him while trying to stop Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in Week Two.
