J.J. Watt wants to sack Peyton Manning

J.J. Watt has become the Sultan of Swat in Houston, batting down five passes already this season.

But he has a different goal Sunday against the Broncos.

I want to have No. 18 on my sack list,” Watt told Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle. “That’s my goal.”

Watt has three sacks this season, and getting Peyton Manning is important to him. He thought he’d see him twice a year when he was drafted, but when Manning missed last season and was released by the Colts, the opportunity at two chances a year went away.

“I’ve always said you want the best,” Watt said. “You don’t earn your stripes playing against inferior competition you want to play against the best every single time and that’s a chance to prove yourself.”

Even if his arm’s not Old Peyton, he’s still smart enough to make things difficult on opponents, by getting the ball out quickly.

“You’re not going to sack him every play so you need to get your hands up in the passing lanes, hopefully frustrate him,” Watt said. “But he is a veteran quarterback, he’s seen that before, he knows people are going to try and bat his passes down. That’s another challenge. I’m excited about it. But I want to sack him, too.”

Watt has been one of the most impressive players in the league as the Texans move through the I-AA portion of their schedule, but getting to Manning in any fashion and beating the Broncos will lend some legitimacy to what they’re doing.

He was a one-man Army last week. Ran wild on my Jags.

Gotta be the second best draft pick all time behind Andre Johnson. Also, I know other people note that Peyton can’t throw the long ball anymore, but he never needed to. Peyton has the attitude of a skilled surgeon, not a bold bullfighter. I hope JJ has the day he wants, because Mr. Manning is still a dangerous man.

    That’s JJ SWatts.
He’ll get one sack and half, at least.

Looking at the history of Wade Phillips’ defenses against PM, I’m guessing Watt and his defensive teammates will have a pretty decent day.

This guy’s becoming quite the talker.

Boy, are we gonna start getting stories like this often, cheap shots towards manning? Let they guy play and stop with the questions of his ability to still be affective. Boy im looking forwards to the raiders week 4, I know for a fact their players are gonna talk smack because that’s what they do best.

Man, it would be a real shame to see Manning go down for good.

    Go get him, J.J. :)

How can you not love this kid?

Modest but not too modest, respectful and plays with a passion and keeps tough personal goals.

This is all coming from a Colts/Manning fan.

Schuab will have his fair share of pressure from dume, miller and wolfe

@bronosnative you are correct! The Texans will need to worry more about the Broncos D then Manning!

Mega-Watt is a beast!! And not the only one on the Texans D. Should be a tough day for the Broncos O!
